Arc System Works (アークシステムワークス) is a Japanese game company.

Introduction
Arc System Works is a company that specializes in fighting games, and it is also the publisher.
After the departure of Minoru Kidooka, who originally worked at Sega, in January 1988, the company began accepting commissions for the development of console games, and in May of the same year, he founded Arc Co., Ltd. (株式会社アーク), before changing to its current name in 1991.
In 1998, the original PlayStation was released, taking this opportunity, Arc System Works developed the game sales business, they reached the arcade market in 2000 with the release of Guilty Gear X.
Since the beginning of the Guilty Gear series, Arc System became known for making 2D fighting games with anime-style graphics. It also started to make a name for itself in the fighting game community.
However, because of contractual issues, Arc System only holds half the rights to the Guilty Gear series, the other half is held by Sammy; the latter merged with Sega in 2004, establishing Sega Sammy Holdings, the rights were later transferred to Sega.
