Independent Cartoon

Independent Cartoon (獨立漫畫) is a semimonthly magazine that started in Sep 1935 and ended in Feb 1936, with Zhang Guangyu as editor. Printed and published by Independent Publishing House, the magazine had its unique style, which was popular among its readers. It published many caricatures about the politics and cartoons, sketches, and drawings that reflected the darkness of the society, the life of the ordinary people, and the life of the bottom-level working people. Contributing authors included Zhang Zhengyu and Lu Shaofei. Zhang Leping's early comic strips Sanmao was also published in series in this magazine.
