Teresa Teng (Chinese: 鄧麗君; January 29, 1953 - May 8, 1995) was a female singer from Taiwan.

Introduction

Her real name was Teng Li-Yun (邓丽筠). Well known in the Chinese world, her songs, such as "Sweet Honey", "The Moon Represents My Heart", "Small Town Story" and so on, are still enduring. In the early days of her career, she liked to wear miniskirts and translucent lantern sleeves on stage, and later wore cheongsam. Her most personal jewelry was a jade bracelet on her left hand[note 1].

One of her signature looks is a white one-shoulder dress, and a flower on her head. She has a mole on the lower left side of her nose.

Name origin

Her real name, "Teng Li-yun", was originated by Deng Shu, her father, which means "beautiful bamboo". Due to the polyphonic relationship, Teng Li-yun (邓丽筠) became Teng Li-chun (鄧麗君), so it became her stage name.

In the movie "Miss Fan", Teresa Teng was a pure girl student wearing a blue and white short-sleeved school uniform with two ponytails tied with green hair accessories when she first appeared on the stage.

The character song in the film is "My Name is Jingle", and the title song is "I Laugh When I See You".
