This article is about how to make a formal title of an article.
Contents
Principal of Naming
English first
- The title should be in English and in the widest use globally.
- When a title is originally in another language, we prefer its translation in English. For the detailed standards of translation, please see Help:Translation Standard.
Full names first
We suggest using full names instead of using abbreviations. This can make people understand their meanings clearly.
If some abbreviations have already been proper nouns, such as IBM, the USA and so on, you can use them freely.
Rules for Capitalization in Titles of Articles
Mostly, these following rules must be obeyed.
- Always capitalize the first and last word of any title.
- Capitalize nouns, pronouns, verbs, adjectives, and adverbs.
- Do not capitalize articles, prepositions, or coordinating conjunctions.
For more information, please read the Rules for Capitalization.
Duplication of names
To avoid misunderstandings, please use a plain name. If the name is unique, don't use a disambiguation page.
