Introduction
Sunset Shimmer was a former student of Celestia. Her studies were not much earlier than Twilight Sparkle's. She wanted to rise to the top in one step, but she failed. So she became cold-blooded and hypocritical. Princess Celestia tried to help her kindly, but Sunset Shimmer eventually gave up her studies to seek her own path. She came to another world through a mysterious mirror and became a human. Sunset became a student at Canterlot High School. She used her prestige to force all the students in the school to obey her. Even the two principals couldn't do anything to her. She didn't have any friends because of this.
Three years later, when the gate to the alternate universe opens again, Sunset Shimmer returns to Equestria and steals Twilight Sparkle's Elements of Harmony crown. Twilight Sparkle follows her through the mirror, but the crown is later picked up by Fluttershy, who passes by and gives it to the Principal as a prize for winning the upcoming Fall Princess. Sunset Shimmer attempts to win the upcoming Academy Princess Contest and get the crown legitimately. After her plan is ruined by Twilight Sparkle, she forcibly takes the crown and puts it on her head, but unexpectedly goes berserk and turns into a demon. Twilight uses the friendship magic between her and her new friend to control the already berserk Sunset Shimmer. Both worlds are saved. Twilight also teaches Sunset Shimmer the importance of "friendship".
Rainbow Rocks
When Twilight Sparkle defeated Sunset Shimmer, magical energy overflowed and attracted the attention of the three sirens who were once banished to the human world by Star Swirl. In EQG2, they came to Canterlot High School, participated in the music festival, and sowed discord and controlled people. Sunset Shimmer contacted Princess Twilight through her notebook in Equestria. When the protagonists were torn apart, Sunset Shimmer united them. In the end, the six main characters and Sunset Shimmer used purification skills that surpassed the Rainbow Purification Storm. From then on, the M7 formed a band called the Rainbooms, and Sunset Shimmer officially joined the main team and became the guitarist of the Rainbooms. After that, Sunset often wrote letters to Twilight Sparkle in a magic notebook and called her a friend. (The official website later released Sunset Shimmer's two rainbow transformations and solo songs)
Friendship Games
In the joint competition between Canterlot High School and Crystal Prep, Sunset Shimmer leads the Wonderbolts to compete against Crystal Prep's Shadowbolts, which include human Twilight Sparkle.
During this period, human Twilight intends to use a homemade tracker to study the magic that appears in Canterlot High School, which causes the M6 to fall and have their magic power absorbed. Sunset is furious at human Twilight for wanting to understand something she doesn't understand, which puts her friends in danger. When human world Twilight Sparkle listens to Principal Crimson's words and is releases magic and degenerate into Midnight Sparkle, Sunset Shimmer uses the Elements of Harmony of her five companions to transform into the magical girl Daydream Shimmer and defeats Twilight. The two successfully hold hands. Twilight from the human world later transferred to Canterlot High School and became friends with Sunset and the other six.
Legend Of Everfree
Sunset and the rest of the Canterlot High School team arrive at the Camp Everfree. This place was originally owned by Gloriosa and Daisy and their ancestors. The businessman Filthy Rich coveted this land, deceived Daisy, and wanted to turn it into a spa. Daisy hoped to use her last moments to leave good memories for the students who came here through the magic of Equestria she discovered, but she eventually lost control and turned into a monster from the urban legend of Camp Everfree. Human M7 finally defeated her. While Sunset helped human Twilight escape the shadow of Midnight Sparkle, she also found that she had gained new magic. After that, Sunset could sense other people's memories and thoughts by touching them.
Dance Magic
M7 plans to raise money for the restoration of Camp Everfree through a dance competition, and they meet the Crystal Prep people again. The Crystal Prep people also want to get the prize money so that they can hold a line-up on the yacht. They steal inspiration from Rarity, but find that they are not good at writing songs. In the end, the human M7 and the Crystal Prep people reach a consensus and cooperate in shooting a MV to share the prize money.
Movie Magic
Because they saved the camp, Sunset and the others were invited to visit the set of Fearless, where they met the director's niece, Juniper Montage. However, the three holy objects used as props disappeared, and Sunset and the others finally discovered that the thief was Montage, who had all the keys, because Montage also wanted to play Fearless but was rejected by the director.
Montage was angry at the M7 because she was kicked out of the set, and then she found a mirror with magic. Meanwhile, Yuhui was bored because she hadn't seen magic for a long time and was complained by her good friend. At this time, Sunset returned to Equestria to buy a new notebook, where she met Twilight Sparkle's new apprentice, Starlight Glimmer and become good friends. Under the strong request of the secretary, Yuhui takes the secretary to the human world to play. However, Sunset and M7 are sucked into the mirror space of Montage one after another. Finally, under the offensive of the secretary's mouth, they successfully persuade Montage to release the seven people.
