Shanghai Cartoon Association was the first cartoon society in China, founded in 1927, with members including Ding Song, Feng Zikai, Zhang Guanyu, Lu Zhengfei, Wang Dunqing, etc.The association's emblem is Cartoon Dragon, representing a caricatured dragon awakening, taking off, determined to fight for the future of the homeland. Members of the association played a leadership role in cartoon circle at that time, acted as hardcore force in cartoon creation and initiated many periodicals. The association also brought out numerous excellent books. To name a few, Wennong Caricatures Collection in 1927 provided precious materials of the cartoon history of China, while Shanghai Cartoon weekly printed in 1928 became a very successful cartoon publication in 1920's.
