Captain America (real name Steve Rogers) is a character from Marvel Comics, created by Joe Simon and Jack Kirby.

Introduction

He first appeared in Issue #1 of Captain America Comics, dated March 1941.

During the time of World War II, Steve Rogers wanted to become a soldier to fight along with the US Army against the Germans, but he did not make the cut due to his thin physique and appearance. He was then incorporated into the Super Soldier Program, where he was experimented upon by the military, he was injected the Super Soldier Serum in order to improve his strength and abilities. At the same time, Dr. Myron MacLain gave him a suit and a shield composed of indestructible "Vibranium", henceforth becoming Captain America.

After World War II ended, during a battle with Red Skull, the leader of the enemy organization Hydra, he fell to the sea, and his body was frozen for 70 years, until he was found and thawed by the Avengers.

He is still active in the original comics continuity. In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, he retired due to old age, and passed down his role to Sam Wilson.
