Notice: About User Group in En/Ja MoegirlPedia

En/Ja MoegirlPedia has been maintaining the same user group in Zh MoegirlPedia temporarily, which means that you are seen as a partoller, sysop or bureaucrat in En/Ja if you are partoller, sysop or bureaucrat in Zh, and vice versa.

But we suggest you use the discussion board in En/Ja MGP to apply for your rights if you edit there more.--wikibridgegirl(☯heaven's gate) 12:58, 29 February 2020 (CST)

Let me rephrase this.
"English and Japanese Moegirlpedia will be maintaining the same user group status as Chinese Moegirlpedia for now.
"This means that if you are a patroller, sysop, or bureaucrat in EnMGP or JaMGP, you will also be a patroller, sysop, or bureaucrat (and thus maintain the same user group status and rights) in ZhMGP; and vice versa (ZhMGP patrollers are also EnMGP patrollers, etc.)
"But we suggest that you use your local discussion boards to apply for these user group rights if you edit more on these locals. (So, use this board to apply for, say, patroller if you edit mostly in EnMGP. )"
--金萌桥姬, ZhMGP Sysop
Also, the same sysop noted that this "auto user group link", one may call, may be broken later. --GYARI! GYARI! GYARI! ONE-SIX is no longer "公的驱逐舰"! Talk·Recent Edits 23:17, 28 February 2020 (CST)
OH NO, Dave already fixed it--GYARI! GYARI! GYARI! ONE-SIX is no longer "公的驱逐舰"! Talk·Recent Edits 23:17, 28 February 2020 (CST)

Update June 2020: It is now confirmed that the user groups in EnMGP (and JaMGP as well) will soon be separated from those of ZhMGP. It is still unknown when this will be implemented; however, it is assured that the current user groups would not change. That means if you are a patroller in ZhMGP currently, you would still be one in EnMGP and JaMGP. Your role might change depending on your behaviours on these sites later on. --Moegirlpedia:~ Leranjun$ Home · Talk · Contrib 18:45, 17 June 2020 (CST)

Petition for enacting policy

I hereby petition for the enactment of User:公的驱逐舰/Provisional_Policy/User_group_policy. This is a translated and adapted excerpt from the original Chinese Moegirlpedia policy to be used to govern the actions, responsibilities, applications, and removals of authorities and Good Editor status in English Moegirlpedia, necessary at this time as the user group rights are still linked between ZhMGP and EnMGP. If adopted, this policy draft should be moved to Project:Provisional user group policy and protected.

I hope for unanimous consensus from the current community.

(+)Support, but I do think "Aye" and "Nay" is kinda informal for a serious discussion situation tho… -- Frank-san (Leave a message) 07:33, 16 May 2020 (UTC)
"Aye" and "Nay" are what many legislative bodies in the English speaking world uses for simple voice votes, so I decided that they fit the context better and can be easily differenciated from standard "agree" templates and the like. Also I need to update that policy a bit, things have changed recently. —COVID be gone! One-Six A.K.A."公的驱逐舰" Talk·Recent Edits 08:43, 24 May 2020 (CST)

Request to Merge Template:Quoted from other wikis and Template:FromOther

I created Template:Quoted from other wikis yesterday, copying from the Chinese Moegirlpedia. However I have just found out about Template:FromOther today. Comparing the content of both templates I realised that there are some slight differences, not only in the wording but also in the content. I'm not sure which one to keep, so I'm posting here to see what everybody thinks about this.-- Frank-san (Leave a message) 08:19, 15 May 2020 (CDT)

@Leranjun Notice that we already had Template:From_other_wiki. I will recommend merging those two since their parameters are the same (you can even move the document page, like, right now: your doc is much better than the older one); but I will very much like to see migration to Template:FromOther eventually. There is still transclusion; can you fix those? --COVID be gone! One-Six A.K.A."公的驱逐舰" Talk·Recent Edits 17:05, 15 May 2020 (CDT)
@One-Six Thanks for the notice. I have already merged the Template:From other wiki and Template:Quoted from other wikis. However, I noticed that there are slight differences in terms of the usage of the templates, so I'd like to ask whether or not it is possible to see all pages that included the template and change them. Thanks again.-- Frank-san (Leave a message) 00:07, 16 May 2020 (CDT)
@Leranjun Use Special:WhatLinksHere. Or you can try to come up with a regex to automatically fix everythign and submit a full site regex replacement request here. —COVID be gone! One-Six A.K.A."公的驱逐舰" Talk·Recent Edits 08:41, 24 May 2020 (CST)

Signature time zone was set to UTC now due to a bug.

Hi girls and guys,

we found a bug that preventing timezone settings in user Special:Preferences to take effect. Therefore all users' signature time become CDT as localtimezone were set to US central time before. We now change that settings to UTC0. We are not sure why user timezone settings were not taking effect, and trying to fix that.

ijou -- Baskice(talk) 07:32, 16 May 2020 (UTC)

Seems like it's working on the Chinese site, but not here. (There is an option to use user-defined time in signature there, but I don't see the option here in the preferences panel.) --Moegirlpedia:~ Leranjun$ Home · Talk · Contrib 03:14, 17 May 2020 (UTC)

Linking zhmoe and enmoe pages

Is there a reason not to, like, add [[zh:Chara]] in Chara and [[en:Chara]] in zhmoe:Chara? If not I'll start doing that on a lot of pages. -- DGCK81LNN讨论) 12:55, 13 February 2021 (UTC)

Because EnMGP is so underdeveloped that not much can be actually used for reference?--Editor Rakuzen 17:18, 13 February 2021 (UTC)
(▲)Ditto If you could help link these pages, that's awesome. There are still many things to do in EnMGP, I think. So every little helps. --GuoPC 📝 00:49, 14 February 2021 (UTC)
(+)Agree Actually not a bad idea to link pages between wikis, should we add templates like {{ToZhMoe}} for us to enter these entrance more easily? --By patroller CHKO (Talk) @ 06:54, 14 February 2021 (UTC)
If it's an interlanguage link, it should show up on the sidebar under "In other languages".--Editor Rakuzen 07:31, 14 February 2021 (UTC)
I am wondering do we have this function in moegirl wiki system...... —By patroller CHKO (Talk) @ 09:32, 14 February 2021 (UTC)
I think we do. Check the sidebar for Mainpage.--Editor Rakuzen 10:36, 14 February 2021 (UTC)

Problem caused by united preferences

I want to disable the visual editor on EnMGP, but when I do that, since the Gadgets tab on the EnMGP preferences page is empty, my ZhMGP gadget settings become reverted to default once I save the settings here. The similar thing happens on Commons and Library — Commons has fewer gadgets than ZhMGP, and Library doesn't even show the Gadgets tab at all. Uniting the preferences across sites is ridiculous if the preferences themselves are different.

Also, I'd want to set the interface language to Chinese on ZhMGP and English on EnMGP, which is currently impossible.

-- DGCK81LNNtalk) 00:24, 14 February 2021 (UTC)

For the interface language, I have a temporary solution:
  1. Go to zhmoe:Special:Preferences, and set "语言" to "zh";
  2. Go to Special:Preferences, and set "Language" to "en".
Hope this could help. :) --GuoPC 📝 00:36, 14 February 2021 (UTC)
(But that would break my gadget settings on ZhMoe)— DGCK81LNNtalk) 00:52, 14 February 2021 (UTC)
Well, sorry for that, you just need to fix your gadget settings on ZhMGP after following the steps above. --GuoPC 📝 01:00, 14 February 2021 (UTC)
Well that works, thx. I thought fixing the gadget settings would break the language setting DGCK81LNN (talk) 02:15, 14 February 2021 (UTC)
I crossed out the "which is currently impossible" part ― DGCK81LNN (talk) 02:20, 14 February 2021 (UTC)
Yeah, that happens. I would just setup everything in En, Ja, Cm and Lib before going back to Zh to finialise the preferences.--Editor Rakuzen 03:03, 14 February 2021 (UTC)

Rename Template:Incomplete

Since zhmoe:模板:不完整 has been renamed 欢迎编辑, should Template:Incomplete be renamed "WelcomeEditing" or something? ― DGCK81LNN (talk) 02:25, 14 February 2021 (UTC)

( ¡ )BTW I've created this {{btw}}
( ¡ )BTW I think {{Incomplete}} should be rewritten. The translation feels a bit wrong. ― DGCK81LNN (talk) 02:28, 14 February 2021 (UTC)

(+)Agree This guy's talking sense. {{Incomplete}} should be renamed, although I feel like "Welcome Editing" isn't the exact wording for it. Let's see what the others say. Meanwhile, perhaps you can start with rewriting {{Incomplete}} first, if you will?--Editor Rakuzen 03:01, 14 February 2021 (UTC)
(?)Question When I edit {{Incomplete}}, I should edit its derivatives (Category:Serial works page-top templates for instance) as well? — DGCK81LNN (talk) 04:20, 14 February 2021 (UTC)
Good idea. You might also want to do a fulltext search on some of the keywords of the original version and see if there are more that need to be changed. Thanks!--Editor Rakuzen 04:36, 14 February 2021 (UTC)
(+)Yes, definitely Is {{Welcome Participation}} a good suggestion? --By patroller CHKO (Talk) @ 07:28, 14 February 2021 (UTC)
Sounds good! Or maybe {{Welcome participation}} (with lowercase)?--Editor Rakuzen 06:04, 17 February 2021 (UTC)

Please discuss before creating categories and templates unless you're really confident about your wording

I've seen Category:Templates of template page, Category:RPG游戏, Category:Toby Fox作品... Just look at Special:WantedCategories. — DGCK81LNN (talk) 02:47, 16 February 2021 (UTC)

(+)Agree Just some historical legacies. More examples but somehow different: Category:Black Eyes / Category:Black eyes, Category:Character / Category:Characters / Category:Charactor (?), etc.
Recently I am trying to handle with the categorizing of templates, and it would be greatly appreciated if you (and other editors) can help with the categorizing work. :)--GuoPC 📝 03:43, 16 February 2021 (UTC)

Someone's gotta make you understand add rules about page names when translating zh:萌娘百科:编辑规范
( ¡ )BTW I created Moegirlpedia:Guidelines and Help:Wiki quickstart which now temporarily redirect to their corresponding Chinese versions for now – DGCK81LNN (talk) 03:14, 16 February 2021 (UTC)

(:)Reply The title naming standard was created in July 2017, which may be quite different with the rules on ZhMGP now. --GuoPC 📝 03:43, 16 February 2021 (UTC)
Honestly, I don't quite like how current guidelines are named, not to mention the typos and grammar mistakes in the content. Personally, I would like to translate "编辑规范" as "Editing guidelines" or "Content guidelines" (as "Guidelines" in general is more of a category). "MoS" might also be a good alternative, although that's probably better translated into "格式手册". The "Title Naming Standard" is a guideline, not a help article, so it should be in the MGP namespace. Also, I think calling it "Naming conventions" sounds better…--Editor Rakuzen 06:47, 16 February 2021 (UTC) edited on 06:52, 16 February 2021 (UTC)
Indeed. The guideline system on EnMGP is still not complete and is a little confusing. I've tried to translate the Editing guidelines page (at your preference) on ZhMGP last autumn, but the whole guideline system on ZhMGP was in discussion at that time, so I paused translation. Besides, I found if the Editing guidelines page is imported, there would be a large set of pages to import, which made me can't afford. ;w; --GuoPC 📝 07:55, 16 February 2021 (UTC)
(+)Agree My bad. Should've asked before creating those redirects. ― DGCK81LNN (talk) 02:51, 17 February 2021 (UTC)
( ¡ )BTW According to Help:Title Naming Standard/Rules for Capitalization (which should be still worth referencing), shouldn't we move My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic to My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic?― DGCK81LNN (talk) 03:11, 17 February 2021 (UTC)
Verbs should be capitalised, so that's fine. However, that rule really needs to be rewritten. It should only applies to works, not all articles. You wouldn't want "Everything Can Be Moe" instead of Everything can be moe.--Editor Rakuzen 04:27, 17 February 2021 (UTC)
Oh yeah, I just realised the name of that page shouldn't be capitalised. Very funny (--Editor Rakuzen 04:32, 17 February 2021 (UTC)
