Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad is a character in the Assassin's Creed video game series created by Ubisoft and Ubisoft Montreal.
Altair was a Levantine assassin of the 13th Century, he holds a pivotal position in the history of the Brotherhood of Assassins. He grew up in Masyaf Castle, the stronghold of the Assassins in the Levant, where he was trained as one of them. At 26 years old, he achieved the rank of "Assassin Master", and became the supreme leader of the Levant Brotherhood after the death of his mentor, Al-Muallim. Having survived the Third Crusade and the Mongol West, he lived a remarkable life. He confronted Richard I and the two Grand Masters of the Templars directly, he even planned the assassination of Genghis Khan.
Relying on Eden's Apple, a relic of the first civilization, and on his own talents and learning, Altaïr improved his hidden blade techniques, abolishes the need for the user to cut off their ring finger, and was ahead of his time with the use of gunpowder in the East.
From Assassin's Creed to Assassin's Creed: Bloodlines, Altaïr was dressed in the uniform of the Levantine Assassins, the only difference is the equipment he carries. In Assassin's Creed: Revelations, Altair wore darker-colored outfits in his later years, showing his status as an elder.
