Introduction
- Kim Jun Ok was born in Haeju Town, Hwanghae Province, Korea, where is divided into Pyŏksŏng County (벽성군) now.
- Kim, a veteran artist of SEK Studio, has been involved in animation production for more than 50 years, and as of 2009, he has produced more than 500 cartoons, including "The Squirrel and the Hedgehog," which is famous in western countries. SEK Studio produced more than 1,500 animations, of which Kim's work alone accounted for about one-third of the company's works.
- Kim is good at creating children's animation, the theme of which is humanoid animal image. This coincides with some of Disney's works. Kim is called "Walt Disney of Korea" in the style of Western animation.
- His work has been praised by film critics as "childlike and unique".

Collaboration with the West: 1986-2008
- From 1986 onwards, he collaborated with France, Italy and other countries to produce children's films.
- In terms of collaboration with Italy, Kim is the director (or one of the directors) of numerous animations co-produced by SEK Studio and Mondo TV in Italy.
- Since 2003, the number of collaborations between DPRK and the West has decreased dramatically due to declining competitiveness and worsening international situation, and deterioration of the international situation. The last known Western animation produced by Kim as a director was The Enchanted Mountain with Italian TV Mondo in 2008.
- Kim is the best-known Korean animation director in the West.
- In 2001, SEK Studio was in the midst of a generational shift. Many old directors were replaced by the young one. However, Kim Jun-ok's status remained unchanged due to his 40 years of experience in animation art and directing.
After retirement: 2014 till now
- In 2014 or so, 79-year-old Kim retired, but he didn't want to rest. On the contrary, he decided to compile references for animation production based on his previous experience as a director and finally presented the results to his former employer SEK Studio.
- In 2018, Kim Jun Ok, one of the directors of the first season of The Boy General, returned to SEK Studios as "Grandfathers Retired because of Old Age" and promoted it on KCTV's special "On the Day of the Creation of the Animation".
