Raising Heart (レイジングハート) is an object appearing in Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha and its derivative works.

Introduction

It first appeared in Episode 1 of the original series, its original wielder was Yuuno Scrya. Yuuno was seriously injured, and handed it over to Nanoha Takamachi, making Nanoha its new owner. Its magic system is the Midchildan System. Raising Heart has been known to be a free thinker, such as when it went against Nanoha's wishes in A's (After Raising Heart was damaged in battle by the Wolkenritter in the Tome of the Night Sky, it volunteered to have a Belkan magic cartridge system installed inside it, upgrading it to Raising Heart Exelion). Excessive magic energy consumption had caused Nanoha's health to deteriorate, plus Nanoha pushed herself too hard in the past (because of those injuries, by StrikerS, Nanoha had matured a lot, and not easily unrestricted).

In the original Japanese name, レイジングハート, since the corresponding English word for レイジング is not unique ("Raising" is pronounced /'reɪzɪŋ/, and "Raging" is pronounced /'reɪdʒɪŋ/). Neither "Raising" nor "Raging" correspond to the exact pronunciation of "ジ)", most early English translations called it "Raging Heart". However, various official material indicates that it should be spelled "Raising Heart".

Modes

Standby Mode

Originally, Raising Heart has three modes, respectively, Device Mode (デバイスモード), which resembles a wand, Shooting Mode (シューティングモード) for long-range attacks, and Sealing Mode (シーリングモード), for capturing Jewel Seeds.
