Upgrade is a character in the Ben 10 series. It is a sample of Galvanic Mechamorph DNA in the Omnitrix.

Appearance

Upgrade is all green, similar to the stripes on a circuit board. Its body is black, and there are ring-shaped eyes on the top of its head that sparkle when it speaks.

Classic Upgrade wore white clothes with the Omnitrix logo on its chest. Starting from Ultimate Alien, Upgrade has black and green stripes, while Omniverse uses thicker and denser circuits, and the Omnitrix logo is located just above its eyes.

Abilities

Upgrade is not a pure solid state, but closer to some kind of gel state, and any physical attack seems to have no effect on it.

It can integrate with and control machines at will, regardless of the size of the target machine, and can freely control the machine or add new functions to the machine. Additionally, there is evidence that it can repair damaged machinery if integrated with it to an extent.

It can not only simply increase the function of machines, but can even transform them in completely unrelated ways, such as turning a popcorn machine into a popcorn Gatling, and transforming a tennis ball machine into a tennis cannon. But once the target machine is abandoned, the target machine will return to normal.

Occasionally, it can merge with life forms in mechanical form, such as a Chronosapien.

It can fire powerful beams from its eyes, travel through electricity, and have enough power. Its body is made of vital inorganic matter, which can regenerate and survive in space.

Weaknesses

It is sensitive to electromagnetic pulses, and metals are not very resistant to acids.

Although physical attacks have no effect on Upgrade, receiving physical attacks will still cause Ben a lot of pain (it is unknown whether this is a special situation only for Omnitrix users or if it is also true for original species).

Upgrade's ability to control machines is limited, and some powerful machine beings can escape from Upgrade's control on their own.

Appearances

Upgrade first appears when stopping thieves from robbing a bank, and is one of the original ten alien heroes.

Upgrade also appears in Heroes United, and his green lines are yellow.

Trivia

• Upgrade's body is made up of billions of nanoscale mechanical cells, which are in constant motion and change their shape as they reorganize.

• Upgrade's voice is similar to Ben's own voice. This is because Galvanic Mechamorphs, as inorganic life forms, cannot perfectly combine with organic life forms.
