Usage

If filled in in English, all parameter names must be lowercase.

No templates or magic words are required when filling out ISBNs, OCLCs and DOIs. Use numbering instead. For example, enter isbn=numbering instead of id=ISBN.

Field variables

Wiki links

Intrawiki links can be added to most fields (eg: title = [[article|title]]), but it is recommended to include only internal links to existing Wikipedia articles. All wiki links should not contain any symbols that would interfere with the operation of the template, use normal parentheses () instead of <>[]{ }.

Description field

field variable

In the following field descriptions, some fields have a parent-child linkage relationship, and the parent-child fields must be used together to display properly:

  • Pro field
    • Subfield — must be used together with the parent field (if the parent field is not filled, it can be ignored)
    • Or: Subfield 2 — can be used in place of parent field (ignored if parent field is already used)

Parameters

  • author: author's name, suitable for use when the author's name (or translated name) is in Chinese, for example: Zhang Ailing, George Washington. Internal links can be added by filling in the authorlink field below.
  • last: The author's last name, because there is a space between the first name and the author's name, it is recommended to use the author's last name in the original text (usually in English). Example: Johnson. Please do not include wiki links directly, use the authorlink field instead.
    • first: The author's name, because there is a space between it and the surname, it is recommended to use the author's name in the original text (usually in English). For example: Jack. A middle name can also be added. Please do not include wiki links directly, use the authorlink field instead.
      • last and first are only suitable for author names written in English (or other similar languages), please use the author field instead.
    • authorlink: The name of the Wikipedia article about the author. Please enter only existing entries. Please do not use this field on its own, be sure to use it only when author or first and last are filled.
    • coauthors: The full names of other coauthors, separated by a comma (,). (Examples: Wang Daming, Li Xiaohua; or: Joe Bloggs, John F. Kennedy, H. R. Dent)
  • editor: The name of the editor/editor of the book. Since there is no default text in this field, users must add annotation text such as " (Edit)" by themselves.
  • others: Contributors to other books, eg: translated by Wang Daming; or: illustrations drawn by Li Xiaohua.
  • title: The title of the book. This is the only required field. Can link to an existing article in Wikipedia. English books can be italicized (''book title''), and Chinese should not be italicized.
  • url: If it is an online book, please fill in the URL. Not available if an internal link has been added to the title field.
    • format: Book format, such as: PDF, HTML, etc. If there is no special format, it is not necessary to fill in.
    • accessdate: The full date of access to the online book URL. The format is: XXXX, XX, XX, and internal links can be added freely, for example: February 20, 2007. If the book does not have a URL, it is not necessary to fill in it.
  • edition: used when the book has a specific edition, eg: the second edition of June 1997.
  • series: used when the book is part of a series of publications.
  • origdate: The publication date of the original version. The format is: XXXX, XX, XX, and internal links can be added freely, for example: February 20, 2007.
    • Or: origyear: The year of publication of the original version, without adding the word "year", just fill in the number. and origmonth: The month of publication of the original version, without adding the word "month", just fill in the number. Neither field can have internal links. If there is a specific date, use origdate instead.
  • date: The publication date of the referenced edition. The format is: XXXX, XX, XX, and internal links can be added freely, for example: February 20, 2007.
    • Or: year: The year of publication of the cited edition, without adding the word "year", just fill in the number. and month: the publication month of the quoted version, without adding the word "month", just fill in the number. Neither field can have internal links. If there is a specific date, use date instead.
  • publisher: Publisher. Please avoid the words "Publisher", "Company", "Limited Company", etc.
    • location: Publishing location.
  • language: The language of the book.
  • isbn: International Standard Book Number (ISBN), for example: 1-111-22222-9.
  • unified: unified book number, for example: 7201·85.
  • oclc: Online Computer Library Center number, for example: 3185581.
  • doi: digital object identifier (DOI), for example: 10.1016/j.coi.2004.08.001.
  • id: If the above fields are not sufficient or suitable, other relevant certification numbers of the book can be added. You must specify the name of the numbering system you are joining, using the relevant template such as {{ISSN}}.
  • pages: pages 5–7: the beginning and end of the cited pages. This refers to the number of pages on which the reference content is located, not the total number of pages in the entire book.
  • chapter: A specific chapter of the book.
    • chapterurl: The specific chapter URL of the online book. If any, it must be on the same site as the url field.
  • quote: Quote for a specific sentence in a book.
