A virtual spokesperson (Chinese: 虚拟代言人) is a fictional, often anime character created to represent or endorse a brand or product. The term was thought to be originated in Taiwan.[citation needed]
In some cases, a virtual spokesperson is the officially-recognized anthropomorphization of a brand or product, but he or her does not have to anthropomorphize in all conditions. Also, a moe anthropomorphization is not necessarily the spokesperson for the brand.
Fictional characters who are not virtual spokespeople, but are used to promote other products.
The characters from Girls und Panzer are used to promote tourism in Oarai Town, a port town where the anime is set, in Ibaraki Prefecture, Japan.[2][3]
