Hailey Comet is a moe gijinka of Halley's Comet.

Introduction

Halley's Comet was discovered by Edmund Halley in 1705 and named after him. It is a short-period comet, and is the only known short-period comet that can be observed with the naked eye. She will visit the earth once every 75 to 76 years, and people may meet her again in their lifetime.

Her last appearance was in 1986, and her next appearance will probably be in 2061. On December 9, 2023, Halley’s Comet passed aphelion.

History

There are relevant records in Sima Qian's "Historical Records": "In the seventh year of the First Emperor , the comet first came out of the east and saw the north; in the fifth month it appeared in the west, on the 16th." This can be said to be the earliest definite record of Halley's Comet. Babylonian tablets from 164 BC also contain records of Halley's Comet. Her appearance was recorded in the "Book of Han" in 87 BC and 12 BC. Later, in 141 AD, 374 AD, 607 AD, 684 AD, 837 AD, and 912 AD, Halley's Comet was recorded by various historical materials, such as "Nuremberg Chronicle", "Sui Shu", etc.

In 1066, William the Conqueror defeated Harold, and Halley's Comet was included in his Bayeux Tapestry recording the Battle of Hastings.

Halley's Comet was also sighted during the Siege of Belgrade in 1456.

In 1910, Halley's Comet was finally photographed, but at this time many people still believed that the comet was an ominous omen. In 1986, Halley's Comet was observed by a variety of modern instruments. There were many sightings recorded before 1910, and Halley's Comet still misses Earth-chan to this day.

Constitute

Thanks to the Giotto probe and the Vega Project, people have learned more about Halley's Comet and found that it has a relatively hard comet nucleus in the center, composed of solid water, solid carbon dioxide, solid carbon monoxide, etc. As it approaches the sun, the "ice" in the comet's nucleus sublimates into gas, forming the coma and tail. This also proves Fred Whipple's "dirty snowball" theory.
