Otoppe (オトッペ) is a Japanese anime series produced by NHK and broadcast by NHK ETV.

Plot

One day, Sheena, a girl who aimed to be the best DJ, found a giant door glowing in rainbow colors. Attracted by the countless sounds emerging from the door, she jumped inside, and found herself in Otoppe Town, home to mysterious creatures born from sounds called Otoppe. Sheena, together with the fickle Windy, the Otoppe of wind, begins to spend her unusual days with the creatures.

Characters

Sheena (シーナ)
A human girl who dreams of becoming the best DJ in the world. She was transported to the world of the Otoppe, and currently lives in Otoppe Town. Her name is derived from "synesthesia".

The Otoppe (オトッペ) are the main focus of the show: creatures born from sounds.

Windy (ウィンディ)
The Otoppe of wind. The most laid-back in all of Otoppe Town. He accompanies Sheena in her adventures.
Metalk (メタルク)
The Otoppe of metal.
Flamy (フレイミー)
The Otoppe of fire.
Wotta (ウォッタ)
The Otoppe of water.
Wood-Wood (ウッドウッド)
The Otoppe of wood.
Motoron (モータロン)
The Otoppe of engines.
Pepperano (ペッペラーノ)
The Otoppe of paper.
Glasston (グラストン)
The Otoppe of glass.
Door-Morrison (ドアモリソン)
The Otoppe of doors.
Cutton (カットン)

Eleki (エレキー)

Windy Papa (ウィンディパパ)
The Otoppe of the south winds, and Windy's father.
Potrain (ポトレイン)
The Otoppe of electric trains.
Manesky (マネスキー)
The Otoppe of money. He owns a store called "Shop Manesky".
Umitta (ウミッタ)
The Otoppe of the sea, and Wotta's grandmother.
Westy (ウエスティ)
The Otoppe of the west wind, and Windy's cousin.
Hihi and Lulu (ヒーヒー&ルールー)
The Otoppe of shoes, and fraternal twins.
Hanabeat (ハナビート)
The Otoppe of fireworks. Loves dancing to the beat. She used to work part-time at Motoron's pizza shop. Later in the series, she forms a unit with Sheena called Audrose (オードローズ).
Patissimov (パティシーモフ)
The Otoppe of confectionery.
Bellbery (ベルベリー)
The Otoppe of bells.
Fukubee (フクビー)
The Otoppe of lottery.
Bookrano (ブックラーノ)
The Otoppe of books and Pepperano's younger brother.
Ishimaru (イシマル)
The Otoppe of rocks.
Waiwai (ワイワイ)
The Otoppe of walla (crowd murmur). There are numerous Waiwai in Otoppe Town, most of them working in different things.
Riru (リル)
A movie-exclusive character. A baby Otoppe who looks just like Windy.

Movie

The theatrical version, Otoppe: Papa Don't Cry (劇場版オトッペ パパ・ドント・クライ) will be released on October 15, 2021.[1]

Plot

One morning, a baby Otoppe that looks exactly like Windy appears from somewhere, and Windy raises the baby, named Riru. Windy gradually connects with Riru while struggling with a regular life and unfamiliar care. However, there is a secret in Riru, and Windy and his friends are caught up in the situation.
