Introduction
Originally, the main character of the Crash Bandicoot series was called "Willie the Wombat". But because "Willie" was a suggestive pun, it was eventually changed to a more family-friendly name. "Willie" later became "Crash" and his species was changed from wombat to bandicoot.
The the Crash Bandicoot series takes place on an island called "N.Sanity Island" (sometimes also called Wumpa Island), where Crash lives. The island is almost always under attack from Dr. Neo Cortex, a mad scientist who experimented on animals and turned them into genetically modified warriors. Crash must stop him. Moreover, Cortex isn't Crash's only rival. There are other villains, such as the alien Nitros Oxide, who challenged Crash and his friends to a racing championship. There are other mad scientists like Cortex as well, such as N. Brio, N. Gin, and N. Tropy.
In Crash's most recent adventure, he and his sister Coco, along with an alternate version of Crash's girlfriend Tawna from another universe, must travel through time to prevent N. Tropy and his female counterpart from taking over the world.
