Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is a role-playing game developed by Monolith Soft and published by Nintendo, released on December 1, 2017 for the Nintendo Switch.

Introduction

Plot

A long time ago, people communed with the Architect at the World Tree at the center of the world. Later, when mankind was evicted from this place, it was hard for humans to survive in the endless Cloud Sea. That was when the Titans appeared, and the humans settled on them. But Titans had a limited lifespan, and they had died out, one after the other, sinking into the Cloud Sea. There was lesser room for human survival, and quite a few humans started conquering other Titans in order to survive.

The main protagonist, Rex, is an orphan who worked as a Salvager, responsible for collecting treasure from beneath the Cloud Sea in exchange for money. He was hired by Bana, the Chairman of the Alrest Chamber of Commerce, to assist the members of Torna: the Driver Jin, Malos, and Nia. Together, they salvage an ancient ship. After encountering a sealed Aegis called Pyra, Rex was stabbed in the back by Jin. In exchange for saving his life, Pyra asks Rex to take her to her hometown, which Rex doesn't know if it exists-- Elysium. Rex was attracted to the beautiful girl, full of melancholy, out of gratitude and admiration, and an inner desire to find Elysium, Rex decided to help her "return home".

Development history

The game was originally announced at the Nintendo Switch launch in January 13, 2017, where the first trailer for it was revealed.

In E3 2017, a second trailer was released, showing an outline of the game's story as well as gameplay footage, it was also announced that the game would be released in Winter 2017.

Game system

The game introduces a new Blade system, consisting of a Driver alongside their Blade who fight together in tandem. In this game, a character can carry up to three Blades in battle, and can switch between them. A maximum of three Drivers can battle in the game.

Since his parents died in the war, ever since he was a child, he wanted to find a way to eliminate war: find Elysium.
Deeply in love with Pyra and Mythra, for their happiness, he must find a way to get to Elysium at all costs.
