Silver is a character in the Pokémon series developed by Game Freak and Nintendo.

Introduction

  • He is the rival character of Pokémon Gold/Silver Version.
  • He is the long-lost son of Giovanni, and has developed a somewhat awkward personality due to his father's neglect.
  • He is disgusted with weak Pokémon and incompetent trainers, and hates Team Rocket even more.
  • Since he didn't agree with Giovanni's ideas, he decided to train by himself silently.

History

  • Silver first appears at Professor Elm's lab in New Bark Town. If Ethan/Kris is near him, he will push them away. After Ethan/Kris gets his/her starter Pokémon, he will be gone.
  • In HeartGold/SoulSilver, after Silver disappears, a remedy can be found at the back door on the lab where he had been standing.
  • Then, when Ethan/Kris intended to return to New Bark Town from Mr. Pokémon's side, he will be found near Cherrygrove City under the name ???. After defeating him, you can pick up his trainer card.
  • After returning to Elm's lab, you will learn that Silver stole one of the starter Pokémon. Here, you can name Silver.
  • Ethan/Kris meets Silver again in Mahogany Town. Although Silver defeated Lance, Lance accused Silver of not cherishing his Pokémon enough. But Silver wasn't impressed. Then, he taunted Lance and left.

Other

  • Originally, Silver's position was the same as Blue's. Both were acquaintances of the protagonist, rivals who went through various trials in order to become a trainers.
  • In addition to the points mentioned above, the mainline games also have a number of features that emphasize the changes in silver.
    • In Gold/Silver/Crystal, in the midst of a rematch with Silver, he uses the same theme as Red and Lance.
    • In HeartGold/SoulSilver, he set the record for the highest score at Partners Park.
  • Silver is the first rival that doesn't adjust his team's lineup based on his starter Pokémon. No matter which starter Pokémon the player chooses, all of Silver's teams will only have one Pokémon that is different.
    • This later happened with Nemona, the rival of Generation IX.
  • In HeartGold/SoulSilver, if the player chooses Cyndaquil as their starter, then Silver's Pokémon level at the Underpass battle would be two digits lower than it would have been with Chikorita/Totodile.
    • This is because Cyndaquil's final evolution requirement is the highest among the Johto starters.
  • Silver's relationship with Giovanni is not stated in the English version of the game.
