Brock is a character in the Pokémon series.

Introduction

• He is the Gym Leader of Pewter City in the Kanto Region. In Pokémon Yellow Version, he mentioned he wanted to be a Pokémon Breeder, a reference to his anime counterpart.
• He has a serious and determined personality. He is very popular with the locals in Pewter City, and is especially respected by younger generations of trainers. He doesn't smile much, but once he laughs, he can't stop.
• His hobby is digging fossils at Mt. Moon, and training in spaces surrounded by rocks. This is why he goes to Diglett's Cave.
• He specializes in Rock-type Pokémon, matching his "rock-solid" will. After defeating him, the player will receive the Boulder Badge.
• His Japanese name, Takeshi, combines the Japanese words for "bamboo" (竹, take) and "courageous" (武し, takeshi). It is also possibly taken from Takeshi Shudo as well.
  • His English name, Brock, comes from the word "rock".

History

Red / Blue Version, Yellow Version, FireRed / LeafGreen Version, Let's Go, Pikachu! / Let's Go, Eevee!

• He debuts as the leader of the Pewter City Gym. In Pokémon Red/Blue and Yellow Version, the player will receive the Technical Machine 34, Bide. In FireRed and LeafGreen, they will receive TM39 (Rock Tomb). In Let's Go, Pikachu!/Let's Go, Eevee!, the player will receive TM01 (Headbutt) from him.
• Additionally, in Let's Go, Pikachu! / Let's Go, Eevee!, the player will battle Brock again in a rematch.
• In Let's Go, Pikachu!/Let's Go, Eevee!, Brock will also go to Vermilion City (see the anime for the reason why). He will show up in the Celadon Mansion, and give Chase/Elaine Pewter Tea kernels, originally intended to be given to the trainers of Saffron Gym, so that they can enter Saffron City.

Gold / Silver / Crystal Version, HeartGold/SoulSilver

• Brock appears again as the Gym Leader of Pewter City. He will give the Boulder Badge to the player after defeating him. But he gives out TM80 Rock Slide in HeartGold/SoulSilver exclusively.
• In the rematches in HeartGold/SoulSilver, after Ethan/Lyra got all 16 badges, he will appear between 12:00 and 15:00 everyday at the entrance of Diglett's Cave. Ethan/Lyra can ask for his Pokédex number at this point.

Black 2 / White 2

• He competed in the Pokémon World Tournament.

• His signature Pokémon is Onix. In the games, his Onix never evolved.
• In Generation I, possibly due to digging fossils, he added some additional Rock-type Pokémon to his team.

History

Brock appears as the Gym Leader in Pewter City. In his first battle, Brock had the upper hand against Ash, as Pikachu struggled to beat Brock's Onix. In the end, Pikachu defeats Onix after accidentally letting a water pipe leak.

• Due to his standing position in Generation I games, Brock could be easily mistaken for not wearing a top.
  • You can actually see the sleeves of his white t-shirt looking closely. In Pokémon Yellow Version, the sleeves of his t-shirt would be a little more noticeable.
