Osananajimi (幼驯染おさななじみ) is a moe point in ACG subculture.

Introduction

In Japanese, osananajimi, which refers to friends who have played together since childhood. It does not only refer to young children who have developed feelings for each other, but can refer to all kinds of childhood friends.

Bara and yuri relationships can also count as osananajimi.

Osananajimi in ACG

In various works, the love story of childhood sweethearts is very popular, and it is one of the most common moe points in subculture. This kind of ill-fated bond that has arisen since childhood is a special and unstoppable fate in life.

In Japanese works, the story of a male protagonist falling in love with a girl since childhood is a common type.

It may have the following characteristics:

  • Both families live very close to each other.
  • If they were classmates from the same school, the girl would wake up the protagonist every day and go to school together.
  • They would share some childhood secrets.
  • Generally, there will be a third person who is closely related to one or both parties. The third person usually appears as an elder (such as the former or current teacher of the two and the store manager of a part-time job site), who has known the person for a long time but does not develop a relationship with the person. They will understand the progress of the person's relationship. When necessary, as a life mentor, it will also hinder the further development of the relationship between the parties for various reasons.
  • In addition to having a deep childhood playmate friendship with the protagonist, many girls in the works will transfer schools, move houses, and have family lunches. Then the protagonist would forget having this memory.
  • Most of them have a good impression of the protagonist from the very beginning in the setting.

Please pay attention to the important difference between osananajimi and sisters. First of all, the tamer and his childhood cruch are usually not related by blood. (but there are exceptions, such as cousins who are also osananajimi)

Secondly, although many of them and the protagonist will have a room facing each other, the parents of both parties are very familiar with such settings. But still not under the same roof.

There are two types of osananajimi: conventional and natural.

  • Conventional is when they have been with the protagonist from childhood to adulthood, without separating.
  • Natural is when both were childhood sweethearts when they were young, but they were separated for a few years later.
    • A variation of the natural type is when the two childhood sweethearts only had ever met once, but left a deep impression on each other over time.

Explained by Keima

  • Drive Your Dream!! Only then can true osananajimi be made!!
  • T (Tonari)! Living next door is a major premise, the basics!
  • O (Onichan/Otouto)! Long-term relationship with older brother or younger brother or older and less than full lover!!
  • Y (Yakusoku)! Promises mean foreshadowing!
  • Next is the most important, O (Omoide). When you forget your memories of them...
  • TA (Tachiba)! A completely different reunion!!

That is osananajimi!
