The weekly magazine of Shanghai Manhua (上海漫畫) came into being in Apr 1928 and ended with lssue 110 in June 1930, when it was merged with Time Pictorial. Shanghai Cartoon was a magazine journal with both text and illustration and was one of the most influential cartoon magazines in the history of China. Shanghai Cartoon mainly collects cartoons, supplemented with photographing, prose, essay, and art critics. It included both folk cartoon that represented citizens' life and figure cartoons that were humorous and individualistic, arousing the fervent attention by the mass readers.
