Waldo is the main character of the Where's Waldo? book series created by Martin Handford.
Introduction
Waldo's signature outfit consists of a red-and-white-striped shirt, blue pants, a bobble hat, and round glasses. He is a traveler with the ability to travel through space and time. In the "Land of Waldos", there are hundreds of others that look exactly like him.[note 4] He often carries a walking stick in his journeys, and Woof (his dog) always accompanies him.
In the 1991 animated series, Waldo could use the walking stick to open portals to travel between worlds.
Other
- The character Tombo from the movie Kiki's Delivery Service looks very similar to Waldo, and he is regarded as a younger version of him.
- His original name in the United Kingdom was Wally, but his name in the United States, Waldo, is more popular.
- He and Carmen Sandiego, from Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego? have similar traits, and the two are often paired together in fanfiction.
