The Castlevania series is a video game franchise developed by Konami.
Introduction
Castlevania is a role-playing game franchise developed by the Japanese game company Konami, first published in 1986. The first Castlevania game was released for the NES, later, more games were released for the SNES, N64, Sega Genesis, PS, PS2, GB, GBA, Nintendo DS, PSP, Wii, and 3DS. The game's main plot involves the resurrection of the vampire count Dracula for some reason, The player enters Dracula's castle, defeats the vampire and saves humanity. One of the more influential works was Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, released for the PlayStation, and three titles released for the Game Boy Advance.
Background
The story of Castlevania is set in 1897, the time of Irish author Bram Stoker's novel Dracula. The game focuses on the struggle between the Belmont family and Count Dracula. The war between the Belmonts and the vampire began with Leon Belmont. The other descendants of the Belmont clan have used their abilities to fight for justice. Whenever Count Dracula and his dark legions cast a shadow over the region, there is a vampire hunter on the way. Although the Belmont clan has endured countless difficulties, in the end they prevailed with courage and perseverance.
The name "Belmont" is shown as "Belmondo" (ベルモンド) in the Japanese version of the works, a confusion suspected to be caused by translation from English to Japanese.
Castlevania is the story of a sinister dark power that absorbs the emotions of the dark side of humanity, and transforms them, Count Dracula, the vampire who wreaked havoc on the world with his power, and the vampire-hunting Belmont family, who chased them for centuries. For the most part, the series was set in Transylvania, in what is now Romania, located in Eastern Europe.
Interestingly, many of the works very rarely depict Dracula with an evil horde causing havoc on the world, it is only mentioned in animated cutscenes.
