Emu Hojo is a character in Kamen Rider Ex-Aid, a Japanese tokusatsu series created by Toei based on the works of Shotaro Ishinomori. He transforms into the titular Kamen Rider Ex-Aid.

Introduction
Physician intern working in the Department of Pediatrics at Sento University Hospital[note 5] and a talented gamer. When he was 8 years old, he suffered a serious car accident and was rescued by a doctor, so he decided to devote himself to medicine.
He has a simple personality, treats people gently, and puts the patient first in everything, but he is reckless and always falls down inexplicably. It seems that in the early episodes, he was always reprimanded by the hospital's director, Haima Kagami, because he had no background.
With extraordinary game skills, he is known in the game world as the legendary Genius Gamer "M" (homonym with "Eternal Dream" - 永夢, emu), when playing games, it will quickly change into a confident and competitive personality.
In the first episode, when he first learned about the Bugsters, in order to save the patient, he grabbed the Gamer Driver from Asuna Karino and turned into Kamen Rider Ex-Aid, and determined to devote himself to the fight against Bugsters.
The origin of his name is "a treasure born from an eternal dream, willing to give a smile to the patients" (宝を生む永遠の夢、患者を笑顔にするえむ).

Dan Kuroto wanted Emu to return the "Kaigan Ghost Gashat" and made an appointment with Emu. On the way, Emu met Collabos Bugster (Proto Gekitotsu Robots) and turned into a Ghost to fight with him. After the loss, Dan rushed to lend the "Full Throttle Drive cassette" to Ex-Aid, and after defeating the Collabos Bugster (Proto Gekitotsu Robots), Collabos Bugster took out the "Proto Giri Giri Chambara Gashat". After becoming Collabos Bugster (Proto Giri Giri Chambara) again, Dan was injured, and then lent the "Toukenden Gaim Gashat" to Ex-Aid. Ex-Aid once again defeated Collabos Bugster (Proto Giri Giri Chambara), after which Dan used the "Magic The Wizard Gashat" to become Genm to recover the Gashat, and successfully recovered "Kaigan Ghost Gashat", "Full Throttle Drive Gashat" and "Toukenden Gaim Gashat", and successfully made the "Ganbarizing Gashat". He used the Collabos Bugster (blank body) to summon Kamen Riders W, OOO, and Fourze. After that, Dr. Pac-Man suddenly appeared and took out the NES games' "Pac Adventure Gashat", "Famista Gashat" and "Xevious Gashat".

In this novel taking place in 2023, after Dan was wiped out, Emu received a package from Shrimp Dumpling, which contained Mighty Novel X. Emu did not listen to others' persuasion to start the game, so he was infected with the virus in the Gashat, and Parad also joined Infected. Emu learned through a Bugster (a replica of Dan) that the strategy was related to his memory, so he went to the game with Poppy, and went to the place where Emu once lived to trigger the plot and select the correct option to clear the level. Due to Emu's wrong choice, the game was over, and he was locked in the world of Mighty Novel X. In order to rescue Emu, Poppy went to tell everyone in CR, so everyone went to different places to trigger the plot. By exploring Emu's memories, everyone learned about the loneliness and inferiority behind Emu, who has always put a smile on his face.
