Thailand, officially the Kingdom of Thailand is a country in Asia. Located in the middle of the Indochina Peninsula, it borders Myanmar and the Andaman Sea to the West, Laos and Cambodia to the East, and Malaysia and the Gulf of Thailand to the south.
History
In prehistory, Thailand's ancient civilization was relatively developed, and the Ban Chiang Civilization entered the Bronze Age.
Since the 6th century, there have been many city states and kingdoms on Thailand. In the 13th century, the Angkor Dynasty began to decline, and the Thai people began to establish and independent country.
In 1238, the Kingdom of Sukhothai became independent and became the first kingdom in Thai history. The reign of Ramkhamhaeng is regarded as the golden age of Sukhothai. During this period, the influence of the Thai people expanded, and Buddhism became the state religion, which had a profound impact on Thai culture.
In 1351, the Kingdom of Ayutthaya was established and Sukhothai was annexed in the 15th century. At the same time, Ayutthaya successfully destroyed the Angkor dynasty, established domestic institutions, developed agriculture, and traded with foreign countries, gaining a large amount of wealth and integrating culture. From the 17th to the 18th century, Ayutthaya became a powerful nation in Southeast Asia. In 1767, the Konbaung dynasty of Myanmar invaded and Ayutthaya was destroyed.
