Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid (Japanese: 小林さんちのメイドラゴン) is a manga created by Coolkyousinnjya, and has derivative works.

Publication

The manga was serialized in Futabasha's Monthly Action July 2013 issue.[1]

Synopsis

Tohru, the dragon, breaks into the life of Kobayashi who lives in an apartment, and lives with her as her maid.

Tohru basically sees humans as inferior and stupid creatures, but because Kobayashi had the grace of helping her in the past, she serves her with all his might.

Today she will try her best. An out-of-the-ordinary comedy between a dragon girl and a hard-working OL living together!

The 4th volume of the single book was released as a TV animation. The animation is produced by Kyoto Animation and will be broadcast on ABC Asahi Broadcasting, TOKYO MX1, TV Aichi, BS11 and other channels from January 11, 2017, with a total of 13 episodes. In addition, 1 episode of OVA and 7 episodes of SP have been added to the DVD version.

On February 12, 2019, Season 2, based on volume 8 of the book was announced, but the Kyoto Animation arson attack in July of the same year forced the animation production to be postponed.

On August 8, 2020, the animation's official Twitter tweeted after 14 months. On August 11, the 10th volume of the single book was published. Season 2 will be broadcast in 2021, still produced by Kyoto Animation. On the same day, the new official website was released.

Regarding the meaning of "S" in the title, the official visual explained it as "Super and Supreme Second life is about to Start".
At the same time, a special version of the visual map during the new COVID-19 pandemic was released, and the slogan was "Stay home while maintaining Social distance".

On January 15, 2021, it was announced that Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid S will be broadcast in July. The animation will premiere on TOKYO MX at 24:00 on July 7, 2021, with all 12 episodes, and an OVA1 episode added to the DVD version.

In order to commemorate the broadcast, the continuous short animation theater "Mini Dora" (ミニドラ) will be broadcast on YouTube "KyoaniChannel" and Bilibili "ABCAnimation" from April 7th to June 30th. (The one uploaded by YouTube "KyoaniChannel" is open for viewing for a limited time for one week per episode, and the one uploaded by Bilibili "ABCAnimation" will be retained after the update), all 13 episodes. Subsequently, a total of 3 SP episodes were added on July 8, August 6, and September 15. In addition, a total of 5 new episodes of Ex have been added to the DVD version.

Webcast

With the title "Kobayashi-san Chi no Ishukan Radio" (小林さんちのイシュカン・ラジオ), was distributed every Friday in Onsen from January 13, 2017. The hosts are Tohru's voice actress Yuki Kuwahara, Kanna's voice actress Maria Naganawa, Elma's voice actress Yuki Takada and Lucoa's voice actress Minami Takahashi. On December 30, 2016, a special pre-broadcast special was distributed.
