A virtual spokesperson (Chinese: 虚拟xūnǐ代言人dàiyánrén) is a fictional, often anime character created to represent or endorse a brand or product. The term was thought to be originated in Taiwan.[citation needed]

Virtual spokespeople are considered to be the "evolution" of mascots.

Virtual spokesperson and moe anthropomorphism

In some cases, a virtual spokesperson is the officially-recognized anthropomorphization of a brand or product, but he or her does not have to anthropomorphize in all conditions. Also, a moe anthropomorphization is not necessarily the spokesperson for the brand.

  • Dejiko - Official endorser of the Japanese video game store Gamers. Also the main character of the anime Di Gi Charat, where she endorses as well.
