Kodomomuke (Japanese: 子供こども) is a term for "animated TV series specially designed for children to watch".

Introduction

Kodomomuke comes from kodomo (子供こども), the Japanese word for "child". Because these shows are specially made for children, in order to ensure their physical and mental health, there are strict restrictions on the character content, such as restricting the character's outfits and the appearance of scenes with blood and sexually suggestive content. At the same time, the storyline of these animations will be as simple, beautiful and ideal as possible to protect the physical and mental health of children.

In addition, kodomomuke shows are very close to the children's toy industry. The style and plot of some works are closely related to the toys that the producers authorize children's toy manufacturers to produce and sell. Some production companies are even toy companies themselves. This kind of animation is also the so-called "hobby anime". Even if kodomomuke shows contain the above features, one of the purposes may be to make parents of children have a high degree of trust in the relevant content, thus prompting them to accept their children's request to purchase the corresponding toys.

The opposite of kodomomuke are all-ages or adult animation. Among all animations in the Japanese market, kodomomuke ones account for a smaller proportion, while adult-oriented ones account for a larger proportion.
