Runeterra is a parallel world in the game League of Legends developed by Riot Games.

Introduction

Runeterra is composed of both material and spiritual realms. It is the only barrier between the power of creation in the stars and the power of destruction in the abyss. This unique magical world has nurtured all kinds of strange races, ferocious, violent, mysterious and strange.

The planet where Runeterra is located is a spherical planet similar to the earth with satellites.

The main continents are Valoran and Shurima, and there is also the "First Land". The archipelago and many other islands, of which the known area occupies less than half of the planet's area. Further east beyond the edge of the known map is the new continent where Foego , Nila and others are located - the Independent Lands.

Intelligent races

Humans

The main intelligent races in Runeterra live all over Runeterra. The main settlements are Demacia , Noxus , Ionia , etc.

Demons

Inspired by the seventy-two demons recorded in the first part of the occult book "The Key of Solomon" - "Sorcery Skills" - the Seventy-Two Pillars of Solomon.

Demonology notes, designer Q&As, and more information about demons reveal that demons have strict subordination relationships within them. Based on Fiddlesticks' quote "I am the First of the Ten Evils" and the illustrations in the Demonology Notes, it is estimated that there are ten high-level demons in Runeterra. The total number of demons currently in Runeterra is impossible to estimate.

Demons' weakness is their name.

Darkin

Darkin are a legend from a long time ago. They are living weapons capable of corrupting and devouring anyone who wields them. They were once truly great warriors, but they were deceived by design, sealed away in the swords and longbows they wielded on the battlefield, and hidden away from the world, no longer able to threaten the realm of mortals. However, disasters occurred frequently in the Rune Wars, and no one remembered the truth about the Darkin and the threat they posed to all life in Runeterra.

In the hundreds of years since, these weapons have been rediscovered by ignorant individuals and ambitious individuals. The Darkin have already begun looking for a new, more powerful host. The time of reckoning is coming, and the Darkin are about to exact their revenge...

With the help of the Sun Disk, the Shurima Empire made many humans ascend into Ascended Ones. They have larger bodies and more powerful power. Becoming an Ascended One itself is also a probabilistic event. Darkin are corrupted Ascended Ones.

    • The currently known Ascended ones include: Azir , Nasus , Renekton , Xerath , and the Darkin heroes listed below.
    • The currently known Darkin heroes are: Aatrox , Rhaast , and Varus .

Yordles

The race living in Bandle City and throughout Runeterra are small in stature, but many possess great strength.

Vastaya

In the ancient times that are unknown, the division of the First Land began with a war between humans and a race of giants that fell from the sky. In order to awaken the wisdom of their ancestors, the most spiritual humans absorbed the energy of the spiritual realm into themself and became Vastayashai'rei —an immortal shapechanger who could wield the power of nature as their own weapons.

The giant was ultimately defeated, and Vastayashai'rei became a hero admired by all. However, they do not want to consider themselves superior to others, but live together as equals with humans.

Their descendants became what people later called Vastaya. These mysterious hybrid creatures are neither mortal nor truly immortal, and they resonate deeply with the magical energies of Runeterra. As time passed, the balance between the physical and spiritual realms gradually returned, and Vastayashai'rei's abilities gradually declined. The Vastaya left humanity and formed their own tribe. They proudly inherited the names of their ancestors who defeated the giants - the noble Ji Le, the loyal Che Er, the wise Lot... and so on, too many to count. For thousands of years, the Vastaya have worked hard to protect their spiritual heritage, and even if they conflict with each other, they have never backed down.

  • The main Vastaya heroes are: Xayah, Rakan, Ahri, Nami, Sun Wukong, Rengar, Neeko, and Sett.

Targons

Among the few people who can climb Mount Targon and survive, some have eyes full of confusion and emptiness, while others have become unrecognizable and have been chosen as "celestial spirits", filled with an extraordinary and inhuman energy. And was given a destiny that only a few mortals could understand.
