Knuckles lives in an island floating in the air - "Angel Island", and for some reason, Knuckles has been guarding a jewel called the Master Emerald. It is the only energy gem that can control the Chaos Emeralds' rampage, and Knuckles' destiny is to protect the Master Emerald. Knuckles is Sonic's foil and quarrelsome friend. If Sonic is the "wind", then he is a "mountain" that only stays in one place. Despite his seemingly serious personality, he also has a gullible side.
