Nightwing is a character in the comics published by the American company DC Comics. Created by Bob Kane, Bill Finger and Jerry Robinson, he first appeared in Detective Comics Issue #38.

Introduction

As a child, he, along with his family, were part of a group of circus acrobats called "The Flying Graysons", who worked at Haly's Circus. When the circus came to Gotham City to perform, because the circus director refused to pay protection fees, Tony Zucco decided to teach the circus a "lesson", this action led directly to the death of Dick's parents. Bruce Wayne decided to adopt him after witnessing this tragic event. After a period of training, he became the first teen sidekick in Batman's crimefighting: Robin. Years later, he ended his Robin career after an argument with Batman, but didn't end his career as a vigilante, instead he used a new name: Nightwing.
