Moegirlpedia is more than articles. Since you've learned how to make edits, let's get to know about other users and our community.
Namespace
In general, a namespace represent the type of a page, and "namespace:page name" is the full page title. But pages at the main namespace doesn't have a prefix, where you usually see. The "main namespace", or the "article namespace", includes encyclopedic articles or indexes of Moegirlpedia. But other namespaces are prefixed, such as the entry you are looking at now, is "Help:", which represents the page is under the "Help:" namespace. Once you've completed creating your user page, you'll notice its title is prefixed with "User:", or "U:", which is the namespace of your user page and its subpages.
User page
A user page is a page provided by Moegirlpedia to introduce personal information. For example, the page name of User X could be one of the following:
- User page: User:X
- User talk page: User talk:X
- Subpage: User:X/Y or User talk:X/Y
- User namespace is the combination of them.
To create a user page, you can choose the following:
- Click your username anywhere it appears after logging in.
- Enter User:(your username) in the search bar, then search.
After doing the above, you will enter the editor. Enter content, preview and save it, and you will have your own user page.
You can play boldly as you want on that page, but just use the simple wiki syntax described in the previous chapters, as using an overly complex syntax is likely to trigger abuse filters, which can lead to the loss of edits or even a ban from the automatic vandal protection system. The more complex but interesting wiki syntax will be covered in other pages, so don't rush to move contents of articles or other user pages to your user page.
It is worth noting that your user page can be viewed by everyone (including the not registered), so please do not expose your personal privacy on the page. We recommend you only write a short self introduction on your user page for now, as excessive rhetoric may affect other people's impression on you, and please do not write content violating the policy of Moegirlpedia.
You can also use a user box, as the name suggests, a personal card that reflects the user's personality, to indicate your position, preferences, and other information, so that other editors can know you better. You can go to Template:Userbox to find a user box that suits you, or create on your own.
Discussion
If you have any questions about Moegirlpedia, you can click and go to the Discussion board under the logo on top left of the page. Also almost each page has its talk page, but for discussion specific to this page only. Go to the page you want to discuss about then click the Discussion on the right of the logo to get there. Don't worry about creating the talk page as you are free to do so if it once hasn't existed.
Please be sure to pay attention to etiquette and language when asking questions (see MGP:Talk Management Policy for details). Confucius: "Gentlemen seek harmony but not uniformity." Please be rational when discussing, presume more goodwill, and do not make personal attacks. One's words defile himself, and that shouldn't be done. In general, don't delete comments already posted on a public talk page. To withdraw a statement please use strikethrough <del></del>.
We use threads to discuss in Moegirlpedia. A thread is the topic of discussion, and you can think of it as a thread in a forum. In general, threads are independent of each other and are written downwards, new threads placed below, and old threads above. A thread consists of three parts: Title, Content, and Signature.
- Title: A title of a thread should be shaped like a 2nd level heading == Title == and not obscure (e.g., A question), clearly indicating the issue or field you want to discuss (e.g., On replacing a light bulb).
- Content: You can type what you want to say here. Please pay attention to the etiquette on discussion.
- Signature: Please be sure to sign at the end of your speech every time you finish speaking, and there are two ways to sign:
- Manually enter --~~~~ as your signature.
- Click the Sign button
in the toolbar of the editor, and --~~~~ will be automatically added to the text.
No matter which one you use, ~~~~ will automatically change to the signature content set by your account with the time you submit. The default code of a signature looks like this: [[User:X|X]] ([[User talk:X|talk]]) (Internal links to the user page and talk page of the speaker), and users can change their signature content in Preferences, but it must meet the policy requirements.
When adding a thread through a page edit, be sure to place it at the end of the current board. You can also click "Add topic" on the right of the "Edit" button directly to add a thread, and the content will be automatically placed at the end of the board. To avoid writing in the wrong place or deleting threads, do not edit the full text on talk pages, but use the "Add topic" option or just edit a chapter.
To reply to someone, just start a new line after the paragraph you want to reply to, see how many colons in front of it, then add one more colon than that before your reply, meaning a reply to it, and remember to sign at the end of your speech. In addition, you can use discussion templates to help illustrate your point. If you have signed with --~~~~ and you want the person to receive your reply at the first time, you can also use the template {{Reply to}} to mention the person, but don't abuse this template to avoid harassing other users.
