This page, "Moegirlpedia:Talk Management Policy", is an active policy of English Moegirlpedia.
  • The text of the policies has been deliberated and adopted by the community.
  • All users have the responsibility to follow the policies outlined in this text.
  • If you see a need to amend or change the policy, please start a discussion thread on the discussion board.
  • If the policy does need to be amended/changed, please start a corresponding proposal.

This page is a management policy for the discussion section of Moegirlpedia. For discussion of the discussion page, see Moegirlpedia:Talk, and for the comment section management policy, see the relevant content in Moegirlpedia:Comments Management Policy.

The discussion page is a part of Moegirlpedia and can be divided into public discussion pages (including Talk, Moegirlpedia talk, Template talk, etc.) and user discussion pages (User talk).

  1. Users should refer to this policy for statements or discussions.
  2. Administrators and Patrollers should deal with the content that does not comply with the policy.

Content

  1. Discussions involving the following should be deleted and a warning should be issued by the maintenance staff:
    1. Sensitive information that endangers national and community security.
    2. Obscene and pornographic content.
    3. Unrelated advertising-type content.
    4. Content such as fraudulent links/phishing Trojans/donation purchase links.
    5. Other special circumstances as subjectively determined by the maintenance staff after discussion.
  1. Multiple content on a discussion page needs to be roughly chronological in principle, including:
    1. Multiple topics on the same discussion page.
    2. Multiple replies to the same statement.
    3. Multiple direct non-response statements under the same topic.
  1. In principle, users are not allowed to modify or delete the content of other people's or their own discussions, except in the following cases:
    1. Crossing out one's own statements or votes using strikethrough.
    2. Fixing typos or misspellings in their own recent statements.
    3. Continuing to edit your statement for minor improvements for a short period of time after you have spoken and before no one else is involved in the current discussion thread, but not changing the original meaning in the initial statement.
    4. Typographical optimization of the formatting of specific discussion pages.
    5. Retrofitting unsigned users' discussions with speaker names and timestamps.
    6. Removal of signatures that falsify statements made by other users and retroactively labeling them with the speaker's name and timestamp.
    7. Fixing statements that cause typographical errors in the interface as necessary to maintain order in the discussion forum. but should not change the content of the speaker's presentation.
    8. Make reasonable redirects to discussion threads, these should be tagged with both {{movedto}} and {{movedfrom}}.
    9. Other actions permitted in the policy document (e.g., Moegirlpedia:Proposals allows the sponsor of a proposal to revise the proposal).
    10. Acts of page maintenance specifically permitted by administrators.
    11. Other special cases that are subjectively determined by the maintenance staff after discussion.
  1. Users should speak in a civil and friendly manner on the discussion pages.
  2. Users should not add other namespace-specific categories to the discussion page.
  1. The following discussion pages are allowed for archival processing.
    1. Content that meets the requirements of Moegirlpedia:Guidelines for deletion or the circumstances mentioned in the first article of this section.
    2. Blank discussion pages.
    3. Discussion page redirects without links (e.g. mobile residuals, etc.).
    4. Pages created by bots and used up for maintenance (e.g. maintenance of Cewbot [more] failing anchors requires the addition or removal of discussion page content).
    5. New users sending comments to an article's discussion page by mistake.
    • A new user in this case is an editor who did not get autoconfirmed before speaking. If they create a new discussion page, the maintainer can choose to delete the page; if they only add a new statement, they should be marked with {{InvalidSpeech}}.

Public discussion page

Subject to the above specifications,

  • Discussions involving the following content should be hidden (and in principle should be operated by maintenance staff) using templates such as
Hidden!

Oops! Someone forgot to type something here!

.

    1. Completely gibberish type content.
    2. Content that is personally offensive/insulting/intentionally offensive to others.
    3. Content that is not about the current discussion string.
    4. Comments sent to the discussion page in error.
    5. Other content that degrades the quality of the discussion.
  • On the subpages of the Moegirlpedia Discussion:Discussion page, it is specifically allowed for:
    1. Non-Administrators to use {{RemovedMAR}} to remove {{MarkAsResolved}} that are marked as "unanswered";
    2. Administrators to delete or use {{RemovedMAR}} to remove {{MarkAsResolved}}.
    3. Administrators directly delete entire discussion strings that are repeatedly sent by users.
    4. Edit wars should, in principle, be resolved on the public discussion page.

Subject to Moegirlpedia's policy,

    • (a) No user may prevent others from participating in public discussions.
    • The results of discussions on public discussion pages have some validity, and objections to discussion strings may also be raised.

User discussion page

Provided that the content adheres to the overall Moegirlpedia policies and the above policy,

  1. Within their own discussion pages, users are:
    1. Allowed to customize their own discussion pages appropriately, but are not allowed to automatically play audio and video.
    2. {{help}} should be used in special cases to request help. but should not be abused to be disruptive.
    3. Allowed to archie or delete the entire discussion string left by a user as having read the message.
    • When archiving or deleting a warning message or template left by a maintenance person, the warning is considered to have been read.
    1. Except for necessary page protection, actions such as using pages as sandboxes should not be carried out so that others cannot discuss them properly.
    2. When there is a situation where the page is too long or excessively customized and other situations that affect the loading of the page, causing others to access and discuss the page, users should archive or delete expired discussion strings and reduce unnecessary customization.
    • This rule is activated when multiple maintainers determine that this is the case or when another user makes a request on the operation request board.
    • If the situation is found to be true, the maintenance staff should first remind the user to deal with it, and assist in dealing with it if the user does not respond within 7 days.
    1. User discussion pages should not redirect to the discussion pages of user sub-pages.
  1. Users may, within the discussion pages of others:
    1. Leave a welcome message template;
    • Users may issue such templates for themselves or when a message requires a new discussion page for others.
    • Except in the previous case, only maintenance staff may issue such templates for users who have an edit history.
    • The issuance of such templates shall be identified by the template parameters or signature of the issuer and shall comply with the provisions of #Signatures section 1 and 2.
    • No new welcome message templates are allowed other than the existing {{Welcome}}.
    • It is prohibited to distribute custom welcome templates or expand template source code to others to circumvent this restriction.
  • Engage in normal communication dialogue.
  • Send wiki friendlies.
  1. Administrators can leave warnings on user discussion pages.
    • When leaving a warning message, it should contain the "Suspected maintainer left a warning" tag (if the content or summary of the maintainer's message contains the word "warning", the abuse filter will be automatically triggered to tag it).

    • If there is a violation of these rules, the maintainer should immediately deal with it and alert or warn. If warnings do not work, the maintainer may deal with the situation as specified in the blocking policy.
    • In particular, if a user physically attacks another user and refuses to stop the corresponding behavior or does not have the will to repent, the length of the ban may be accumulated for the second and third time in a year as specified in the policy, and the length of the ban may be cumulative.

Signatures

A user's signature on a discussion board (i.e. "~~~~") is subject to the following rules:

  1. Signing after a comment is made.

  1. Being able to correctly distinguish oneself from other users.
    1. Contain internal links to your user page, user discussion page and/or contribution page (one or more of the three above).
    2. Does not allow forging someone else's signature or adding links other than those described in the previous article other than those of a publicized bilocation account.
    3. Inclusion of inaccurate user group information (including impersonating an Administrator) is not allowed.
  1. Include timestamps for use as specified in the discussion board.
    • Timestamps must be added to any statement, except as specifically provided for in the Modifiable Circumstances and Welcome Message templates in the Contents section, #3.
    • Does not allow the use of {{unsigned}} in place of a signature.

    6. The source code does not contain code with syntax errors.
  1. Allow the use of compliant images in signatures.
    1. No more than 2 images located on Moegirlpedia and its sister sites are allowed (usually in the form of tags referencing external links beginning with img.moegirl.org.cn).
(a) Due to technical limitations, the original size of the referenced image does not exceed 128px on the longest side and the actual display size does not exceed 50px on the longest side, and does not affect the page layout.
The use of media files other than images is prohibited.
  1. There are no other cases where multiple maintenance staff (3 or more) determine that it is clearly inappropriate.

If there is a signature that violates the above rules, the maintenance staff should immediately remind or warn the user. If the user continues to ignore the warning, the maintenance staff may handle the situation as specified in the ban policy.

If a user violates the signature guidelines, the maintainer shall remove the inappropriate part of the signature or replace the entire signature with {{unsigned}} or a standard signature (i.e., "username (discussion) XX/XX/20XX (〇) XX:XX (CST)" format).

Archiving

Discussion board archive

In order to prevent the sub-pages of Talk:Discussion board from being too long and causing the page to load, submit edits, and other actions to be too slow, the following is the discussion board archive mechanism.

  • Bot archiving mechanism:
    • If a discussion string has ended (specified time after being marked {{MarkAsResolved}}) or if no new statements have been made for 10 days, the discussion string is cut and pasted for archiving.
    • On the original discussion page (a sub-page of Moegirlpedia Discussions:Discussions) only the discussion string title is retained and the {{Saved}} template is hung to mark it.
    • In the sub-page of Moegirlpedia talk:Discussion page, keep the discussion string with title and content archived, and its title will be deleted on the 1st of each month.
  • Archived page naming.
    • Archived pages will retain their original naming rules (i.e. Talk:PAGENAME/archive/YYYYMM, e.g. Talk:Discussion board/Archive/June 2022, i.e. created and filed in the archived pages according to the month when they were archived)
  • Other archiving mechanisms.
    • The archiving of the group information board is done manually by the maintenance staff.
    • The archiving of the account cancellation request board is done manually by the administrator.
    • In certain cases, the maintenance staff can also manually archive the discussion boards.

Archiving user discussion pages

When a user chooses to archive a discussion string on a user talk page.

    1. It is not allowed to save the talk string to a location other than the User talk namespace (User talk:) on this site.
    2. Archiving must be done through sub-page archiving or fixed link archiving.
    3. Users are allowed to delete sub-page archives at their own request.

Other

  1. Under certain circumstances, administrators may use abuse filters to help with the management of the discussion forum.
  2. If the Administrator and Patroller repeatedly perform illegal management operations in the discussion forum, it will be considered as a damage to Moegirlpedia and will be dealt with according to the relevant content in the policy.
  3. Disclaimer: See Moegirlpedia:Disclaimer.
