Jibanyan (Japanese: ジバニャン) is a character in the game Yo-kai Watch created by LEVEL-5. He is a jibakurei based on a cat. He is also the mascot of the Yo-kai Watch series, and even considered to be the representative character of LEVEL-5 as a whole.
In the Yo-Kai Watch lore, Jibanyan is a Yo-kai of the Charming tribe. He was hit by a car while trying to save its owner and became an earthbound spirit. Because of this, he doesn’t like cars. Before becoming a Yo-kai, his name was not Jibanyan, but Rudy.
He is very popular because of its cute appearance - a small body with a disproportionately large head, big eyes, small nose, and a ghost-like inverted white pattern on the head, and has played a great role in promoting the Yo-kai Watch series. In addition, there are many variants of Jibanyan, such as Thornyan, Shogunyan, etc., all of which have the cute characteristics of Jibanyan.
He and Nate are super good friends. He often criticizes Whisper for being a Yo-kai butler.

Jibanyan is a Yo-kai from the Charming tribe. He lost part of its memory during his lifetime. He became a Yo-kai because he was hit by a car while trying to save its owner Emi. His original name was Rudy (あかまる, Akamaru).
Variants
Thornyan
Thornyan (Japanese: トゲニャン), is a variant of Jibanyan. When a cat catches a cold, it turns into Thornyan. His appearance is similar to Jibanyan, but the color is changed to green, the body is covered with spikes, the pattern of the fur on the head is also slightly different, the tail flame color is orange-red, and other parts are the same as Jibanyan's. When he sneezes, the spikes all over his body will fly out in all directions.
Buchinyan
Buchinyan (Japanese: ブチニャン) is the result of the "fusion" of Jibanyan and Whisper. In both the movie and the anime, Jibanyan and Whisper will turn into Buchinyan after they collide. Buchinyan has the same white curved thing on its head as Whisper. The color of his body is Whisper's white, with spots of Jibanyan's color. His special move is millions of bouncing meat balls.
