Basic Information
Name Gold
Other Names Metal
Ability Type Elemental

Gold power is a special ability in ACG works. It is also known as "metal".

"Gold" in the classical sense is one of the basic elements that make up all things. In fact, there is no such element (it has a different meaning from the modern gold element).

The "gold" ability in the modern sense has different settings in different works.

Introduction

  • It comes from "gold" in wuxing, and is also associated with Venus. In the Bagua, Tian (Qian) and Ze (Dui) belong to gold, and among the twelve branches, monkey (Shen) and rooster (You) belong to gold.
  • The ability of "gold" in most works is generally set as the ability to control metal. The "gold" in this type of setting is to replace the abstract element concept with a solid object concept. At the same time, it also has the ability to turn any object (including the human body) into metal (especially gold), that is, "turning stone into gold".

However, in some works, the metal-type ability is set to be an attack similar to thunder and lightning. (The "gold" in this type of setting adopts an abstract element concept and has no entity). See the entry on thunder abilities .

In a broad sense, it may represent "inorganic" as opposed to "wood" which represents "organic".
== Weaknesses ==
  • Since fire overcomes metal among the wuxing, in reality, metal can indeed conduct heat and even be melted by high-temperature fire. Therefore, fire-based abilities can sometimes restrain metal.
  • Metals conduct electricity, and most of them are attracted by magnetism. Therefore, most esper users will be restrained by lightning-type abilities, including manipulation and use of magnetism. It should be noted that this can sometimes be used to counterattack.
  • In works that follow the laws of physics and chemistry, many water-based users have the ability to rust or dissolve metal. At the same time, low temperature and freezing can also reduce the toughness of metal and cause it to become brittle. Therefore, these works can make metal rust, dissolve, or become tough. Reduced abilities (especially those related to the properties of water and ice) can also restrain metals. It should be noted that in this case, some metals will not work due to their stable properties.

Characters with gold abilities

(For the ability to manipulate metals, see the article metal manipulation)

  • Baihumon (Digimon)
    • Overview: The holy beast that protects the west, its attribute is gold.
  • Mercuremon (Digimon Frontier)
    • Overview: A Digimon that inherits the Steel fighting spirit of the Warrior Ten.
  • Edward Elric (Fullmetal Alchemist)
    • Overview: National alchemist with the title "Steel".
  • Mastiff Man (Armor Hero)
    • Overview: He is the most powerful and destructive Armor Hero, and his defense is also very strong (second only to Rhino Man, but the defense level is more evenly distributed than Rhino Man). Unlike Rhino Man, he is purely power-based and offensive. Therefore, the speed is obviously poor, and the energy consumption is the fastest, so it is not suitable for protracted battles.
