Overview

This will explain in detail how to create and simply build a personal user page, giving you a general understanding of the system used by Moegirlpedia and initially cultivating editing literacy. The format of this is the same as the previous one. It is recommended that you read it quickly first and then start to follow the guidance for practical training after you have a certain understanding of the overall content.

The content of this chapter is very important. Please understand it carefully.

User page

Main page: Moegirlpedia:User pages

A user page is a page provided by Moegirlpedia to introduce personal information.

Below is an example to demonstrate the process of creating your own user page.

Let's say "Megumin" wants to have a page after registering. If she uses "Archwizard Megumin" as her username, then:

Now, Megumin will create her own user page.

Entering a page for editing/creating articles is very simple. To open the page to be edited, you can choose the following:

  1. Method 1:
    1. Click your username anywhere it appears after logging in.
    2. If it is a red link, it means your user page has not been created yet.
    3. After the user page has been created, it will turn blue.

After doing the above, you will enter the editor. Enter content, preview and save it, and you will have your own user page.

You can play boldly as you want on that page, but just use the simple wiki syntax described in the previous chapters, as using an overly complex syntax is likely to trigger abuse filters, which can lead to the loss of edits or even a ban from the automatic vandal protection system. The more complex but interesting wiki syntax will be covered in other pages, so don't rush to move contents of articles or other user pages to your user page.

It is worth noting that your user page can be viewed by everyone (including the not registered), so please do not expose your personal privacy on the page. We recommend you only write a short self-introduction on your user page for now, as excessive rhetoric may affect other people's impression on you, and please do not write content violating the policy of Moegirlpedia. How users can better introduce themselves will be covered in a later chapter.

Namespaces

Main page: Help:Namespaces

In general, the namespace represents the type of page, and "Namespace:Page name" is the complete page title.

But why is it that when I check the article, there is no "namespace" before the "page name"? That's because you're looking at the main namespace, and the main namespace has no prefix. The "Main:" namespace, also known as "article namespace", includes Moegirlpedia's wiki-style articles and indexes, which are systematic summaries of a specific topic based on reliable sources. But other namespaces do have prefixes. For example, the article you are viewing now has the namespace "Help:", which represents pages under the "Help:" namespace.

After you are done creating your user page, you will find that your user page title is prefixed with "User:". This is the namespace of your own personal page and its subpages.

It is worth noting that the namespace name is followed by a half-width colon that is not parsed. Parsing the colon will make the article be recognized as a "Main:" namespace article. To prevent unnecessary trouble, please be sure to pay attention to this.

Userboxes

A user box, as the name suggests, is a personal card that reflects the user's personality, to indicate your position, preferences, and other information, so that other editors can know you better. You can go to Template:Userbox to find a user box that suits you, or create on your own.

Creating a sandbox

Many editors will create a user subpage (or several) as their sandbox for backing up/experimenting with articles. We recommend that when writing a new article, you first write a draft of the article in the sandbox.

Before we start creating a sandbox, let's first understand what a sandbox is. Essentially, a sandbox is a subpage in the user page mentioned above. You can name it arbitrarily. Its title is usually like this: User:Username/Sandbox. In other words, creating a sandbox means creating a user subpage. Therefore, you can follow the method in section 1 to create User:Username/Sandbox (we recommend that you create a link to this page in your main user page to ease access).
