The WAF (Web Application Firewall), full name Tencent T-Sec Web Application Firewall, is used to block network attacks on Moegirlpedia and its sister sites. Sometimes it accidentally affects normal visitors.

Why do you encounter a WAF?

Moegirlpe-tan and Wikipe-tan discuss their experiences on blocking users
  • WAF is an important measure for Moegirlpedia to prevent external attacks. Continuously refreshing the page and submitting a large number of requests may cause you to be WAFed.
  • Using IE (Internet Explorer) or other low-version kernel browsers may cause the WAF to be triggered indefinitely, resulting in the inability to access Moegirlpedia. It is recommended to use mainstream browsers such as Chrome, Safari or Edge. It is not recommended to use Firefox because MediaWiki does not enable come caching functions under Firefox, which may make you more vulnerable to WAF.

What should you do if you encounter a WAF?

The following methods are for reference only:

  • Change your network environment/public IP address, such as switching between Wi-Fi and mobile data, using a proxy server, etc.
  • Wait a few minutes (usually 10 minutes).

Other preventive measures

  • It is recommended to access Moegirlpedia with a Mainland China IP rather than an overseas IP.
  • Reduce the number of unnecessary requests for gadgets:
  • Most importantly, when editing/previewing/submitting pages, make a local temporary backup in case your contributions are lost.
