Androids refer to artificial life forms similar to humans, including robots. The idea behind its creation is to imitate human behavior and appearance. The concept of androids is very common in science fiction works, among which the relationship between humans and androids is most frequently explored.

"Android" is derived from the Greek work "andro", which represents men and people, and -"oid" which means "imitation". It first appeared in the French novel L'Ève future. The story is about a woman who has a peerless appearance, but is vicious and ugly on the inside. Her boyfriend hired a doctor to "use a machine to create a woman with the same appearance as her. Because "Andro" means "male", some people also call female androids "Gynoid".

Androids in different works

  • Beatless
    • hIE, full name: humanoid Interface Elements, is a popular humanoid robot in-universe.
    • Lecia-class hIE, a humanoid robot designed by Higgins, is the main character.
  • Detroit: Become Human
    • The androids in the work are mainly manufactured by CyberLife, and there are various models such as AX400, RK200, RK800, and so on.
  • Ame no Hi no Iris
    • In-universe, robots have become popular, and the androids are mostly all-purpose robots for home use or customized for private use, and have "three major circuits" in their design.
  • Chobits
    • Chobits (or Persocoms), androids designed by Ichiro Mihara.
  • FLIP*FLOP
    • Io went from a voice assistant with holographic projection to an android after constructing a body for herself by using nanobots. The body is controlled by the chip inside a mobile phone.
