Introduction
Crocodile
Crocodile is a generic term for a group of animals in the order Crocodilia. There are 25 extant species which belong to three different families: Alligatoridae, and Gavialidae.
They vary widely in body size between species, adults usually range from over 1 meter to 7 meters in length. The largest crocodile in existence is the Gulf crocodile, and the smallest is the African pygmy crocodile. Other crocodile species include the Nile crocodile, the American crocodile, the mugger crocodile, the gharial, the caiman, the alligator, etc. Among them, the Yangtse crocodile is endemic to China.
