A kangaroo (カンガルー) is an animal of the Macropodidae family.

In ACGN works, kangaroos and kangaroo-based images appear from time to time.

Introduction

"Kangaroo" is the name given to the animals of the Macropodiformes suborder. In a particular sense, "kangaroo" refers to the more known types of large macropodiformes (of the Macropus genus) and the red kangaroo.

Kangaroos have shorter upper limbs and longer lower limbs, but have well-developed muscles in all limbs, and usually stand on their legs. They have a strong jumping power in their lower extremities, and their running speed can reach more than 50 km/h. The kangaroo's tail is also very thick, and can be used as a third leg when standing or as body support; the tail can be used to maintain body balance while running, and can also be used as a defense weapon.

The female kangaroo has a nursery pouch in her abdomen, young kangaroos are born, raised and carried in these pouches until it is possible for them to adapt to life in the outside.

Kangaroos and human culture

  • Kangaroos are one of the animals commonly found in zoos and nature reserves.
  • The kangaroo is one of the symbols of Australia. Its national emblem, its currency, and the coat of arms of some companies/groups feature a kangaroo.
  • Some humans keep kangaroos as pets. (Australia only allows kangaroos as pets in Victoria, and you can't capture wild kangaroos, they can only be purchased from farms).
