Introduction
Bovids in general
Bovid is the general name for animals in the Bovinae subfamily of the Bovidae family in the order Artiodactyla.
Bovids in a broad sense include cows, bulls, bison, buffalo, etc. Some cattle are named according to their habitat. For example, wild cattle are called "bison", and cattle that like to live near water are called "buffalo".
Bovids are one of the animals most closely related to humans. Since ancient times, cows have been the most important animal power for humans, used for farming, transportation, etc.
Cattle are widely distributed on all continents except Antarctica.
Bovids are large herbivores. The natural enemies of wild cattle are mainly various large carnivorous beasts. The main weapon they use to protect themselves is a pair of horns on their heads (especially bulls, and the horns of cows are usually Very short).
There were once American livestock farmers who fed cattle meat, and as a result, those cattle were infected with mad cow disease.
Cow
Cows (also called dairy cows) are dairy breeds of domestic cattle . After years of highly selective breeding, there are now many types. China's dairy cows are mainly Friesian cows (Holstein cows), because Holstein cows produce the most milk of all cows. The highest among dairy breeds, thus maximizing its economic benefits. Therefore, people usually think of cows in this image.
Humans have a very long history of raising and domesticating cows. At least 5,000 years ago, the residents near West Asia became the most nutritious group at that time because of milk. Around 3100 BC, cows were introduced to Egypt (or they may have been domesticated successfully by the ancient Egyptians alone). The ancient Egyptians loved milk more. Even Hathor, the goddess of fertility, looked like a cow.
Cows often appear in ACG works, but almost all of them are Holstein cows. After all, when other types of cows are released, people don’t even know that they are actually cows, which is a bit embarrassing.
Bulls and human culture
- As early as about 8000 BC, cattle have been domesticated as domestic animals in the Middle East, South Asia and other places. Depending on the breed, they can be used for farming, animal power transportation, meat, milk, etc. In ancient times, in some areas (such as China), there was an explicit law prohibiting the slaughter of farm cattle, and violators would be sentenced to prison.

- In animated films and circuses, there are often scenes of matadors waving red cloths to lure bulls, leading many people to believe that bulls are excited by the color red. This is actually wrong. There are also people who drink cow urine and believe that cow urine can cure many diseases, and some manufacturers make cow urine drinks for sale. But Muslims in India can slaughter less noble cattle such as buffalo. India exports more than 1 million tons of beef every year and is the world's largest beef exporter . Although there are also extreme Hindus who oppose the government's policy of allowing non-Hindus to kill cows.
