“
Ultraman is no god... he only comes to our aid when humans are fighting hard.
”
— Shin Hayata
Ultraman is a character in the Ultra Series, created by Tsuburaya Productions.
His first appearance was in "Ultra Operation No. 1", the first episode of the original series.
Introduction
The first and original Ultraman.
Coming from the Land of Light in the M78 Nebula, located 3 million light-years away, he is an alien hero with Mach 5 speed and immortality. He has super powers of flying, becoming gigantic, merging and emitting light. He is an expert in fighting monsters with skills, and he also has a tender heart for monsters that mean no harm.
While chasing the monster Bemular, Ultraman came to Earth for the first time and accidentally collided with Shin Hayata's plane over Ronsen Lake and brought him to the brink of death. In order to save his life, he merged with him.
Ultraman defeated a large number of kaiju and alien invaders, until he was defeated by Zetton, and was rescued by Zoffy when his life was in danger and left the earth to return to the Land of light.
He appears in later works, often helping other Ultra Brothers. After sealing U-Killer Saurus, he stayed on Earth as Shin Hayata, working as an airport manager at Kobe Airport for a period of time. After the battle of Saurus, he returned to the Land of Light and stationed in his hometown.
Details
- Originally, he didn't have a Color Timer on his chest. Later, because the budget of the crew was insufficient, they were forced to set a 3-minute time limit. His designer, Tohl Narita, believed that Ultraman without a Color Timer was the most perfect, because in his eyes Ultraman should be the ultimate life form without weakness. In Narita's first designs, Ultraman didn't have a timer, and in his transformation sequence, it can be seen that there is no timer on Ultraman's chest.
- Ultraman's final design was influenced by Plato and Maitreya.
- Ultraman had 3 different suits on the TV series, called A-type, B-type and C-type according to the face shape. The A-type face is the well-known "sulfuric acid face", with a mechanism that can move the mouth (practice has proved that it is useless at all, the open mouth ruins the image of Ultraman), and the pattern on the body is also rough; the B-type face corrects these defects, the raised toes were added, and it was beautifully done, but unfortunately it was stolen in the 1960s, and its whereabouts are still unknown; after that, Tsuburaya Productions made a slightly different C-type face, which is his definitive appearance. Compared with the B-type face, the Ultraman's C-type mouth is wider, the originally raised toes are flattened, and the chest muscles are thicker.
Story
- When Ultraman possessed Hayata, he dominated the whole process, but Hayata was not completely asleep, and his consciousness was somewhat blurred.
