Note on potential site closure

As you guys might have heard, Chinese Moegirlpedia users are debating over a new Term of Use. As a part of the debate, this English Moegirlpedia (along with the Japanese site) may de closed and its data deleted.

To be fair, English Moegirlpedia might not be touched at all -- it has little influence, and the new Term of Use might not have such a big impact on it. The sad reality is, this site might be spared simply by being forgotten. But for those of us that cares deeply about our creations, this risk can be too great.

I recommend everyone to backup their contributions locally in preparation for the worst.

I will be pinging editors who made edits in the recent 90 days here: @Ktmsobs,Yumeto,Twilight200703,Pumpkin 233,HUELIJAH,全职法师骨灰级粉丝,Dahesor,Wujx3433,Ravenclaw OIer,Deldim,SeerElijah,C0perf1eld.

English Moegirlpedia Backup Plan

Hello, fellow editors.

As we all know, the English version of moegirlpedia may face site closure.

As an attempt to preserve all articles on it, I have created a github repository: [1].

This repository will act as a backup for the English version, and if the site do close, we will have a chance to, say, build another one on another server, or simply use github as the main site.

Petition for archiving threads

As they are too old to do any good, I petition for archiving all threads on this page that have no new messages after 1 January 2020; if this petition pass, this thread should be archived too.

As we have no clear policy on archiving nor active patrols or SysOps, I figure that an unanimous support from active editors can do the trick.

En/Ja MoegirlPedia has been maintaining the same user group in Zh MoegirlPedia temporarily,which means that you are seen as a partoller, sysop or bureaucrat in En/Ja if you are partoller, sysop or bureaucrat in Zh, and vice versa.

"English and Japanese Moegirlpedia will be maintaining the same user group status as Chinese Moegirlpedia for now.

"This means that if you are a patroller, sysop, or bureaucrat in EnMGP or JaMGP, you will also be a patroller, sysop, or bureaucrat (and thus maintain the same user group status and rights) in ZhMGP; and vice versa (ZhMGP patrollers are also EnMGP patrollers, etc.)

"But we suggest that you use your local discussion boards to apply for these user group rights if you edit more on these locals. (So, use this board to apply for, say, patroller if you edit mostly in EnMGP. )"

About zh:黑化

Petition for enacting policy

I hereby petition for the enactment of User:公的驱逐舰/Provisional_Policy/User_group_policy. This is a translated and adapted excerpt from the original Chinese Moegirlpedia policy to be used to govern the actions, responsibilities, applications, and removals of authorities and Good Editor status in English Moegirlpedia, necessary at this time as the user group rights are still linked between ZhMGP and EnMGP. If adopted, this policy draft should be moved to Project:Provisional user group policy and protected.

I hope for unanimous consensus from the current community.

Should we prevent non-confirmed users from adding any external links?

It appears that most spam accounts are one-time use accounts that add auto-generated "bio" and a link to whatever external site they are spamming about to their user page; occasionally they create new pages that is just word vomit and (again) link to external site.

Preventing non-confirmed users from adding any external links should curtail these spams.

About "Surname-Given Name" or "Given Name-Surname"

As the title, Japanese characters like Misaka Mikoto are written as Mikoto Misaka in MGP, and that's a little wierd.

So shall we discuss about it?

Some possible ways (Using Hatsune Miku as example):

3. HATSUNE Miku
4. HATSUNE MIKU

@红石小蝈 I personally Prefer "Familyname Givenname" for Japanese names (follow convention of the original language). Some Japanese characters use "Givenname Familyname" to follow English naming traditions; I think we can make them redirects, save for the rare circumstance that you have the equivalent of "White Steven" and "Steven White" both existing. I believe no one make name all caps unless they came all caps.

Is there something wrong with Moegirlpedia?

I have not been able to access all the pages (including the Mainpage) of the Chinese encyclopedia since this morning.

At present, I can only open the Moegirlsaikou Foundation official website, English Moegirlpedia and Japanese Moegirlpedia.

I opened the review elements, the findings suggest that such a mistake "Mainpage: 1 Failed to load the resource: the server responded with a status of 503 ()". It looks like the server is overloaded .

Request to Merge Template:Quoted from other wikis and Template:FromOther

I created Template:Quoted from other wikis yesterday, copying from the Chinese Moegirlpedia. However I have just found out about Template:FromOther today. Comparing the content of both templates I realised that there are some slight differences, not only in the wording but also in the content. I will recommend merging those two since their parameters are the same (you can even move the document page, like, right now: your doc is much better than the older one); but I will very much like to see migration to Template:FromOther eventually. Signature time zone was set to UTC now due to a bug.

Hi girls and guys,

we found a bug that preventing timezone settings in user Special:Preferences to take effect. Therefore all users' signature time become CDT as localtimezone were set to US central time before. We now change that settings to UTC0. We are not sure why user timezone settings were not taking effect, and trying to fix that.
