The original design contest was held between Dec. 1st 2011 and Jan. 17th, 2012, and the final design was announced in the VOCALOID CHINA character design finalizations in Mar. 22nd, 2012.
The design of Caiyin was not succeeded into the final design of Ling. About the original design, see Ling Caiyin.
