Definition

The five-color formation is an element in ACG subculture. It distinguishes the characters by having them wear different colored clothes.

The trope originated from the tokusatsu Himisu Sentai Gorenger. Due to the uniformity of the team's costumes and the need to wear masked helmets in battle, it is easy to distinguish the five by using colors. Later, due to the broadcast of the Super Sentai series, the team formation was widely disseminated in ACG. Common colors of five-color teams: red male hero, blue male hero, green male hero, yellow heroine, and pink heroine.
