A wizard is a kind of spellcaster in fantasy, usually proficient in magic and wizardry, commonly characterized as wearing a pointed hat and a robe.
Male and female wizards
The female equivalent of "Wizard" (from the word Wise) is "Wizardess", but it stopped being used in the early 20th century because it became a neutral word. And the male word for "Witch" (from the word "Wicce", vulgar meaning for female wizard) is "Witch" itself (from the word "Wicca", vulgar meaning for male wizard), or more commonly, "Warlock" (because both were related to the devil).
