A halo is a character trait in religion, mythology, and one of the moe points in ACG subculture.
Introduction
The image of halo or aura is characteristic of fictional characters in several religions and mythologies. For example, angels, gods, xian, "enlightened ones", bodhisattvas, etc.
The image of the halo/aura varies from religion to religion and myth to myth, with two common types.
- One is the halo located over the head in a horizontal state, commonly seen in Christian images of angels.
- One is the halo or aura located behind the head in a vertical position, such as the Taoist xian and the Buddhist "enlightened ones" and Bodhisattvas.
The earliest image of the halo may have originated from the image of the sun disk on the head of the sun god "Ra" in ancient Egyptian mythology. With the spread of religion and the integration of cultures, the halo image gradually became a characteristic of religious figures. The meaning of the halo has been variously described as representing light or hope, as a symbol of sanctity, as a source of power, and as representing the soul after death.
