Low twintails refers to a hairstyle in which the hair is tied into twintails at the lower part of the head (usually below the ears). It is one of the moe points in ACG subculture.

Introduction

It is a different hairstyle from the "high twintails" in which two strands of hair are tied below the ears. In contrast, the characteristics of being gentle, well-behaved, steady and simple are prominent, making this time of character look like a "top student" or a "good girl" (the exact details are not absolute).

There are two methods: tying low twintails on front of the shoulders and tying them in the back. The former method usually has a fluffy and slightly loose style at the top of the knot, and the ribbon is closer to the tail. The latter one is located on the back of the head, and from the back, you can clearly appreciate the smooth lines and gracefulness of the twintails. Generally, you can only choose this option if your hair is too short.

Under special circumstances, characters with short hair mixed with two longer strands will also be classified as having low twintails (such as Luo Tianyi).

In reality and in some ACG works, compared to the "high" twintails, that are given a strong "moe culture" meaning, some people who are willing to have twintails will also choose the "low-key" low twintails in order to avoid attracting attention and criticism.
