Ponytail is a hairstyle and one of the moe points in ACG subculture.
Introduction
Ponytail refers to a style in which most of the hair is gathered to the back of the head and tied up with a leather case, rubber band, ribbon or other ornament to make it rise or hang down. The hairstyle got its name from the fact that it looks like a horse's tail. Ponytails are a unisex hairstyle.
Since ponytails are easier to organize than long straight hair and can withstand strong movements without becoming messy, it is often seen that people with long straight hair will tie it into a ponytail under certain circumstances.
Compared with characters who usually have ponytails, once a character with long straight hair ties it into a ponytail, a unique "moeness" will emerge: a beautiful girl running in the sun, a long ponytail blowing in the wind, and a youthful look.
In Lucky Star, Kagami Hiiragi tied her hair into a ponytail and was criticized for "looking like a samurai". She was very arrogant and left a deep impression on people.
Ponytails are not braids. A braid is a hairstyle made by dividing the hair into small strands and the twisting them around each other. It is different from a ponytail that simply ties the hair up.
